I'm sick but I liked the lyrics so I randomly recorded it not expecting to upload it, but the YouTube link is here.

    [Verse]

We've been living the best days of our lives in the back of our minds,
Cos our dreams expose the inside, no no-one can hide,
We make wishes that we mean with our hearts, but believing in stars ain't gonna go very far,
Cos sooner or later, they crash and burn and hit the ground

    [Pre-Chorus]

Who am I to reveal the lies?
Is it fair to escape this life?
Is it God who made us this way?
    Why can't I run away?

    [Chorus]

I can't see it, hear or feel,
So maybe love just isn't real,
If I close my eyes from you then,
    Will you stop existing too?

    [Verse]

You can't be sure of anything. that's why we have faith,
Would you kill for what you believe, just to feel safe?
I know inside you want to cry,
But if that was an excuse to go then no-one would be left

    [Pre-Chorus]

Who am I to reveal the lies?
Is it fair to escape this life?
Is it God who made us this way?
    Why can't I run away?

    [Chorus]

I can't see it, hear or feel,
So maybe love just isn't real,
If I close my eyes from you then,
    Will you stop existing too?

I really like this man. I'm loving the first verse especially. It's 'real' I guess. Very cool.

RB, I haven't paid nearly enough open attention to your writing lately, and please forgive me for that. This is literally and figuratively great, and it shows how much pure talent you have, as a writer, not just as a songwriter.

Just to show some objectivity I would have used one different word in the pre-chorus:

Is it right to escape this life

... to emphasize more firmly the ultimate question that no living person can answer.

Re-reading; 1st verse, end of 3rd line; I might also have written "won't take us very far".

But those 2 things are so miniscule I'm almost embarrassed to 'say them out loud'; in part because I'm almost drooling over the way you finished it... those last 4 lines are a masterpiece of 'wrapping it up'; and in remainder because this whole thing is a really fine portrait of what "faith" is, in its most basic and also its highest essence.

    Love it!

Jim I can relate to that very strongly in my own way. But on the other hand, I culled something from Hemingway the other day about trust, which I'll say is a parallel of faith. It's in my signature, the last line. It's my own opinion that sometimes we just gotta step out, put all our weight on something that in the very next moment may cease to exist, or maybe even never existed at all. But just like RB wrote, "Who am I to reveal the lies?"
