Default Immortal (by Rickey Joe and 2numbers)

    (Verse 1)
    I can't feel my hands
    My legs won't walk anymore
I can barely see the sun
I can't hear the ocean when standing on the shore
    But my heart keeps beating
    I can't speak a word
    In my failing mind
Is a volume of to be forgotten lore

    (Chorus)
Now I lay me down to weep
One more night with a day to follow
How I wish to lay myself to sleep
    With no more tomorrow
    But I'm still here forever
    Never getting shown the portal
Living in this prison of life
And I don't want to be immortal!

    (Verse 2)
    I can never know love
For mortal love grows old and withers
I remain ever in the shadows
Timeless, never aging or dying but eternally bitter
    My heart keeps hammering away
I cannot vocally express my pain
    In my maggot infested mind
I remember those who were long ago slain

    (Chorus)
Now I lay me down to weep
One more night with a day to follow
How I wish to lay myself to sleep
    With no more tomorrow
    But I'm still here forever
    Never getting shown the portal
Living in this prison of life
And I don't want to be immortal!

    (Bridge)
    I've had it all
    It's all gone away
    I've seen it all
    Like it happened today
    I've felt it all
    The happiness and sorrow
    I gave it all
    With hopes of no tomorrow

    (Chorus)
Now I lay me down to weep
One more night with a day to follow
How I wish to lay myself to sleep
    With no more tomorrow
    But I'm still here forever
    Never getting shown the portal
Living in this prison of life
And I don't want to be immortal!

    (Outtro)
    Maybe if time would end
    Then finally so could I
But then a new life would begin
So what good would it do me to die?

Powerful stuff!I love the the Chorus(now I lay me down to weep.Brilliant!)This could be a Classic with a few adjustments here and there.I don't have anything to offer, but this is good as it gets!Well done.

Thank you, Doug. You have seen the tip of the iceberg.
