    I
    time and again
meet to play this little game,
    life.

    II
a grain of sand on a beach,
atoms of next-to-nothingness crawling on it:
    us.

    III
I looked existence in the eye,
    asked "why?"
    The eye blinked,
    I was gone.

    Dearest,

    I am dead.

    Do not look for me
in the eyes where I am not,
in the heart another now may use,
    in that cloud of ash blowing in the wind;

    Look for me here,
    in the words
    where I became flesh,
where everything I ever truly was
    for the briefest of moments
    flashed
    across the sky.

    Grab me by the balls
    - life -
pour your red hot liquid self
    down my throat

    force entry
    into this coprolite,
    this half-you I have
    - now! -

    loving is hard
    - for me -
    since I was born

    but
    I so want to love
    - you -
    so...

    could you kill me
    - just enough -
    so I can be reborn?

Does the brink of death guarantee rebirth?

We'll have to try to find out I suppose. I'm not good at suicide so I'd need some help here.

I meant the notion of rebirth normally comes about from complete death, not almost dying, or just enough. I'm wondering what you were thinking when you wrote it. I actually thought of someone hurting them so much for them to be able to perceive a different life from that pain. But then would you love the person that almost killed you...or would you simply learn the meaning of love because of them.

I don't think when I write. Now that I do think afterwards, I believe it was something about the insights that often come through great difficulty, and the fear we (well, at least me) often feel when faced by great adversity - even though we know we will come through wiser and stronger (if we survive, which we mostly do). We (me) just tend to shrink back at the anticipated pain, and so I perhaps wanted to summon someone who could kill me just enough so the fear can die and something else be reborn.

    I think.

...and I think I was talking to life...

    Default The arrow of life

Launched from the bow of existence
    the arrow of life
travels at the speed of time
    and I wonder
    who is shooting at what?

    Take off that coat
its pockets are full of everything you don't need.
    Take off the blouse, too
it's beneath it we can meet.

I promise I will take off my shoulders
every ounce of love I've murdered
    my mother's bloody, b1tching heart
    a past we'll forget
as long as you take off that skirt
it's beneath it we can meet.

    I don't ask you to remove your lenses;
    keep your eyes,
or whatever you, like me, hide behind them
life's got to have a hole to hide in.

    It's everywhere else
    we need to meet
    layer by layer
    inch by inch
    burrowing
    all the
    way
    in
    .

    What if a baby god
is blowing bubbles in some heavenly garden
    giggling as the bubbles fly
to and fro in the winds of time?

If I could hitch a ride
on a single beam of light
    would I not see life,
    the universe and everything
    in every shade of time?

    Default Ragtag hate

    Some of life's moments
have a ragtag quality to them,
like finding your long lost hate
    still breathing.

    Welcome to litter
    the sweet,
    the bitter
    muse-lings with
    or without music -
    tattered rags
    of lofty plans,
    screws, hammers,
    pots and pans.

Life as a whole indeed seems to survive- always in different shapes like a virus reshaping itself always one step ahead of science...
However, though we mostly survive, as you put it, millions don't and that's an ugly figure, lol

BTW: also 2013 you have produced some fine thoughts, O.I and it will take time to chew upon these.
    I am very grateful though!

Thanks, amaryn. I was thinking of the emotional challenges we first world citizens face in our lives - those that can, if we choose to, make us stronger. For many others in more difficult conditions, things are obviously very different - and ultimately, no one survives.

I do hope to get up to speed this year, 2012 was the year I began writing again after a hiatus of more than a decade, and this year I hope to get to a place where even I am happy with what I produce.
