    Default The thousands live

    The thousands live,
    who wish it not;
    the thousands not
    who wish, but lost
    to them the gate
    to mortal lands.

    Take my hands,
    untie the knot
    and give them that
    which I love not:
    the blink of your
    eternal eye,
    to me - a "nay...",
    to them - an "aye!"

    Default De jure

    Miss Justice feeling lonely,
    she conjures a group
    of duty-bound ignorami
    to compete in scratching heads,
    being spell-bound by the magic
    of the wigged Thespians.

    She is just. She binds her eyes
    and flies to have a holiday;
    she can tan in peace, for truly
    justice shall be swiftly done
    (once the play is over, and the
    public picks the winning act).

    Default Be, Life

    I will it:
    Be!

    Will it
    Be?

    Default Mirror

    "I" look "me"
    in the eye
    I see just
    another lie;

    I smile.

    Default Thanks, Life :)

    Death is at the door.
    What has it all been for?

    I look at my collection
    of sellotaped, dog-eared photographs of you,
    souvenirs of things I did and did not do.

    Whatever it was for,
    would you mind... the door.

    This is the first poem in a long, long time - in fact, the first thing I've produced in a long, long time - that just sends surges of happiness through every cell of me when I read it. I can hardly believe I just wrote it. It's... as near perfection, from the first word to the very last, as I've ever come, so far. It's probably the first poem I've written that I'd add to my collection of poems to preserve for publication. Please do quote

    Default My turn

    I count the stars
    alone tonight,

    I wrap my empty arms
    around my shaking knees:
    all you left me
    to wrap my arms around.

    Don't you cry tonight;
    tonight
    it is my turn.

    Default Kick us

    Kick us hard,
    o Life,
    so we may grow,
    but spare till our waning light
    your final, gentle blow.

    Default The World According to Some

    Man is evil.
    Greedy, prone to kill;
    he will not stop
    - unless he knows the deal:
    for every gun he has
    you, too, have one,
    for every bullet fired
    two will head his way and tear through his lungs.

    Free the country,
    free the trade on arms,
    let everyone
    buy everything that harms.
    For only when they know
    that in your home
    a nuke is waiting for them
    will the greedy b@stards leave your home alone.

    Peace on earth
    is made of bullet holes,
    of RPGs
    and remote-guided drones.
    Behind these walls of steel
    we can be free,
    and ever after happily
    kill every sissy who will not agree.

    Default Today's Paper

    Today's paper
    filled with dark and black
    matters kept inside for much too long.

    Today's paper
    falls as I think back
    to times when life was full of jest and song.

    Today's paper
    stained, limp and slack
    I flush away, my bowel movement done.

    Default Long, My Heart

    My feet have crossed a thousand deserts
    with you
    as my only oasis

    * * *

    all the cool waters of the bottomless sea
    I have drunk
    to quench my thirst for you,
    yet I burn

    * * *

    shivering with longing,
    I cry with fear
    as I plunge into the ocean in your eyes

    * * *

    stars may adorn the sky
    but only you
    the heavens inside me.

    Default Welcome

    I hand you the keys to my orchard,
    tread gently on the green:
    others have been there before you,
    the tracks of their steel boots
    only now healing.

    Enjoy the scent of my cherry blossoms,
    but leave the flowers be:
    others tore them down before,
    a long winter left my branches barren;
    spring is only just returning.

    Tread gently on the ground of my heart,
    my budding jasmines crave soft kisses,
    tender arms;
    welcome to my orchard, my love:
    in you,
    I welcome my spring.

    Default Shatter

    Please shatter
    this glass cover protecting my heart;
    it cannot be fixed,
    only broken by love.

    Please risk
    your hand and your heart
    - for surely the shards
    will wound the two,
    as yours have wounded me.

    Please break through:
    I promise that I will
    search every inch of your hand and your heart
    for shattered glass,
    removing every shard of the protection
    against you I do not want.
