Default A Pity and a Shame

We always thought we had plenty of time to make it right
All that we had was nothing but a lovers fight
Our angry words, somehow they began to escalate
For patching it up, suddenly it was all too late.

Our hearts will burn for the truth we’ve learned
We’ve reached the point of no return

We both know it’s a pity, we both know it’s a shame
We’ve let our love slide and we’ve got ourselves to blame
Come on, let’s face it, we’re no longer a team
And we are left with nothing but regret and broken dreams
A pity and a shame such a pity, such a shame

We always thought that no matter what love would be the cure
Our lives may change but our love would still be pure
But I never took the trouble
Never took the time to speak my mind
And you kept away your feelings
The were locked away deep inside

So we drifted apart, two separate hearts
Like barren moons spinning in the dark

Such a pity, such a shame
Oh baby, oh baby it’s such a good thing wasted

    Think about the old days,
We were sure that we were meant to last
    Those days are over
    A thing of the past.

Thanks for the comments! I really appreciate it. I have a bluesy and soulful sound in mind with real horns playing stabs in the chorus and a crunchy lead guitar in the fade out. If I had my way...John Mayer or Gavin DeGraw would have a go at the song.
