    Default winterlady's fashion

    blizzard in my heart
    frozen to the bones
    I've got no feelings left
    to spend on mrs Jones
    such an arctic smile
    make up's perfect match
    shines like a ferrari
    you don't want to scratch

    winterlady's fashion
    is not meant for me
    mrs Jones should know it
    I will soon be free
    winterlady's fashion
    is outdated now
    heart upon my sleeve
    I feel good somehow

    Default a world beyond

yonder that row of weeping willows
there is a path to a peaceful pond
    thoughts can ripen there
    and I am aware
I'd like to walk to a world beyond
    rucksack as my friend
    on my way I went
enjoying what I saw, feeling good
    here I understood
    nature as it should
is meant to give us a helping hand

    no wonder perfumes
    enriched with dozens of chemicals
    can easily intoxicate us
    and make us believe
    that paradise is not lost
and that is the biggest miracle of all

    Default just wondering

I saw Zeus peeling an orange
    grinning at what he saw
    forging thunder and lightning
    making us fear his law
    I saw Neptune surfing quickly
    defying the rumbling sea
    and I don't know,
    I just kept wondering
why,oh why is it not me?

Now this is Classic!!Well done! When you write something this good,it's hard to take the other
    "regular"ones seriously!
This should be carved in stone and on statues.Now........following this is going to be tough.(Like Fleetwood Mac following "Rumours")

glad you liked this. It just came to me out of the blue. I saw somewhere a pic of Zeus, I think

a challenge....well, that's allright. Sometimes diamonds are "born" I suppose. In music,e.g. I am very fond of Pink Floyd's Dark Side Of the Moon,
Janis record "Kozmic Blues" and indeed Fleetwood Mac and their "Rumours". Not to forget Jeff Becks Great Stuff....

    Default a ditty in minor

saw a cat sticking it's head
    out of a schoolyard's bin
I was aware it was lonely there
    and decided to jump in
"don't know why, whenever I try
    I whistle a minor tune"
    he said, I laughed
"life is daft on the dark side
    of the moon"

I'm glad you're a Janis fan.Growing up with Big Brother and the Holding Company,I'm partial to that "Janis".With Live At Winterland and Live at the Carousel Ballroom being my recommendations for
anybody reading these words.Cheap Thrills, although a Classic album,to be sure, wasn't really a "Live"album. It was recorded in the studio and the "live effects"put on afterward. The two previous mentioned album are truly "Live"and that's the "Janis"I grew up with and fell in love with.In my opinion, her albums after Big Brother were good, they weren't as funky and dirty as I remembered her. Most of her great songs after Big Brother were ,in fact, played with Big Brother."Maybe"and "Try Just A Little Bit Harder"HAD to be seen with Big Brother.Let me tell a quick story concerning Janis. After leaving Big Brother, she was absent from the S.F. Scene for about a year. When she returned, with the Kozmic band she played Winterland to an adoring crowd.(Me included)She looked great, she shed any access pounds from her booze days, and she danced like Tina Turner.But........this is THE FIRST TIME EVER a band didn't get an ovation!San Francisco audiences were famous for being generous to bands deserving or not.No matter how bad a band played we always called them back for an encore. This band was so bad,it wasn't!Janis never played San Francisco with them again and shorty broke up the band. So,between her bad band and the Big Brother fall out,I'll always have fond memories of Big Brother and the Holding Company and their crazy psychedelic guitar leads, their off key singing and their long hair, blowing in the wind.

Here you go, Doug! Thanks for all that info. I am kind of green with jealousy hearing where you've attended, though I visited a venue in Amsterdam
(still exists), Paradiso, where Manfred Mann, Alexis Corner, and the lot played long gigs and when I lived in Glasgow I saw many more from Frank Zappa and Elton John to Country Joe and the Fish, Matthews Southern Comfort, and and and.....
Now I visit more Indie and fringe venues, listen to music I never heard before. Not bad either!

    I climb into an oaktree,
    seek wisdom for company,
    embraced by hours of silence
it seems easier for me to see,
    why values remain forgotten,
by claims of stress pushed aside,
    I'm aware of something important
as I walk home through the night

    I'm gonna ban stress ,
    I can do it
I leave my own shadow behind
    I'm gonna enjoy myself
    really,
I have a new life on my mind

    Default trastevere

    Never sleepy
    pregnant with cars
    and motorcycles
    restless people trodding
    in between past and present

    never sleepy
    smiling sweaty cooks
    invade their kitchens
    guests studying menu cards
    full of fantasy

    never sleepy
    only the houses
    along the streets
    seem yawning endlessly
    praying for peace
