    Default dancefloor of history

    Sir Karl Marx gesturing wildly
    loosening up his red bowtie
    Abraham Lincoln smiles mildly,
retro steps- as time goes by

Che Guevara in a T shirt
    teaching Chavez a chachacha
Al Capone seeking a free bird
to dream with her about Sicilia

    Mao quoting redbook pages
    bowing politely for a dance
    while a bluesy rhythm rages
to pave the way for any new romance

    an audience spontaneously clapping
    their hands for performers
    they used to know
wondering 'bout what had been happening
where did these dancers all go?

@Doug: enjoy a footbath with soda after such a walk and listen to this avalanche of musical escapades. Thereafter you'll be fine again! Hoot,hoot![/QUOTE]

Great idea!I don't know why I didn't think of that myself!I'll report back what I listen to tonight....I know you're dying to know!(Cream at the BBC;Fresh Cream)

    Dancefloor of history:absolutely delightful!
I'd love for you to expand on this theme, there are so many that need mentioning;Garbo,Dietrich,Harlow,Carole Lombard,Clark Gable to name but the tip of the iceberg.

    I agree.

Amaryn, keep it as a poem . . . but "Find Me" is a great candidate for a song, should you choose to develop it in that way! Let us know if you post it there!

True, I did mark that I liked these poems at the time you posted them. However, today I read them perceiving that sharpness/edge that you express so well. Many may think I'm a fan. It is true--I am a true fan of your poetry! Amaryn, you MUST start a real book of poetry to be published. Your style . . . sometimes poignant, sometimes tongue-in-cheek, sometimes both . . . is a sure winner, for it will make people smile in spite of themselves, and at just the right times.

Excuse me, has Hank Williams been resurrected? I can hear his trill or warble and yodel-tones in these lyrics (just as in "I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry;" although Hank's writing in this case was in "non-rhyme/rhyme/non-rhyme/rhyme" pattern.)

This song/poem reminds me of an older Flower Child friend I know. Although I hope the "end" of the music lover in this poem is not the same for the Flower Child!

Hahaha, Frankie! I have to listen to Hank Williams to answer this question correctly. I don't think I am too familiar with his repertoire

Allow me to do the work for you. Here's about as original/traditional "Country" as it gets (but great poetry), Hank Williams' "I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry" with lyrics and dictionary notations! (Pls excuse YT ads...)

    Yes, a great thanks!

I admit, I am not into country music (though you are from the "heart" of Kentucky and the mountains there are very dear to you, I know).
But I appreciate your attention. The lyrics are well understood and straight forward. Loneliness is a dreadful thing and noticeable all around us.
Thank you, Frankie! It is a theme which suits any style of music and indeed is being used by a great variety of performers, like- to name just a few - Nat King Cole,
Janis Joplin, The Doors, Diana Krall, Nina Simone, Dusty Springfield, The Beatles, The Stones, a score of rap artists , Elvis Costello, Elvis,
and certainly many country artists too.

    to me she looks fluffy
    size of clothes:S
she says parkgrass shoul be made of plastic:
it would be green all year round
    in front of the hotel
    she waits for businessmen
    to catch her attention
while listening to a Tokyo band
    blasting her eardrums
    eternally happy
    impossibly careless
    develish defiance

Hi Amaryn, I wonder how you imagined this poem, itīs amazing that I heard in the news that a 5 years boy killed his sister when shoot at her with a rifle. As if your read a Month ago the news
papers. And you end wisely your lines "how happy we are". You are unique, gracias.

    Default dedication

I have thought once in a while
it would be better to be dead
I would feel better being dead

I have thought once in a while
    only silence would mean peace
it would leave my mind at ease

I saw the picture of a man
    waiting somewhere for his bride
I saw the picture of a king
who didnot go out in the night
    just surrounded by his luxury
    he felt only safe inside

I have thought once in a while
death will soon knock at my door
what am I still living for?

I have never thought that I
    would then enter paradise
too much suffering hurts my eyes

I saw the picture of those souls
    still in people's memory
I saw the picture of their life
stormy as the wind can be
and as fragile as the laugh
of a little child can be

while Hollywood babies were tapping like mad
James Cagney lost his baby feelin'so sad
there were others too who walked the same road
ask Humphrey Bogart who carried his load

Josephine Baker was keen to dance
Charleston steps in front of her fans
showing her thighs on an erotic level
whilst Garbo starred in Flesh and the Devil

bathing in culture was the Westend
when Hepburn showed what ballet to her meant
black bottom made even white men go crazy
yes, the Old Times were really amazin'
