Ruined!

She walked out on me
Without a word
Her daddy came and got her
In a U-Haul truck
I hate those trucks
Even today
When I see them on the road
I wanna blow them away

Sheriff came knocking
On my door
He said, "Ï think these papers
Must be yours"
I said, "I'm over my head
In legal fees"
He said, "That's your fault
Don't blame me"

Ruined!
I lost everything
Nobody cares when you go down
Ruined!
They want what you've got
When they've got it, they're gone

I lost my job, had to sell our house
My ex-wife made a lousy spouse
Lived with my parents for a dozen years
Nearly drowned in a waterfall of tears
I never wanted my day in court
This time, I'll stay in my fort
Barricaded, burned out on marriage
Never dreamed I'd get a divorce

Ruined!
Back at the starting gate
A whole lot older and full of hate
Ruined!
Hate mail and a lawyer's fee
Collection agency coming after me

The judges' kids, they will eat
Feeding off my court cost
While mine go hungry
Everything is lost

Ruined!

the Glorious and Unbearable American Dream It has always driven me mad that way of thinking about "freedom",lol.
It doesnot sound entirely as a fantasy poem/song, and it makes my heart beat faster, Jim! I can feel the rage!

nice stuff Jim. i couldnt agree more that everyday problems do seem set out to ruin us. must be sods law i suppose.
