Defined

This is more of a rant than it is a poem but I felt that I should show it.


We cannot be defined by a number
We cannot be defined by our looks
We must be defined by our actions
By the sacrifices and pain we all face
We must realize that we are defined
By something so much more than potential
We are a living breathing substance
Constantly changing, constantly adapting
We are never at a stand still
When troubles come in our way we should face them
We should fight until victory or defeat can be reached
I urge everyone to look within them selves
And realize that we are defined by our actions,
Our words and our beliefs
Not the hypothetical idea that potential
Is the key to our existence
Anyone can fail, anyone can succeed
It is your life be who you want to be

Well said.......if it were only true.....

Yeah it's sad but I think somewhere within us all is the want to be ourselves and not who we're told to be.

True.But it seems to me most people would rather be told what to do,rather than "decide"what to do.It's easier to "follow the leader" than to "make waves".Most laws are formed because one segment of the population wants to "save" the other segments from "harming themselves"!When we,the people,can "pursue happiness" as long as we don't infringe on others,then it'll be a happy day for personal freedom.I wont hold my breathe waiting for that day!

Yeah I agree everyone follows these trends, and what's cool meanwhile they are losing them selves, and when anyone tires to be different they are looked down on because they are not cool like them. These people who do not follow the rest are outcasted so often times its easier to just follow, because that seems to be the only way to be accepted. People always say that the government is controlling us too much, but in reality we are letting those around us control and dictate who we are it's more of a collective freedom than it is a personal freedom nowadays.

I've never followed trends but always thought of myself as cool.If you believe you're cool,you are!
