Default 60's 70's duet song artist

I am looking for possibly the correct title and artist for a duet - Thought it was Nancy Sinatra - The 2 of us, but cant find any reference to this song so could be a different artist.

Its not just the 2 of us by Bill Withers or Teo uf us by the Beatles

Lyrics include: The 2 of us, they'll always be just you and me the 2 of us.......

Song: Just the Two of Us
Artist: Porter Wagoner & Dolly Parton
    Year: September 1968

No we can't control the evil that surround us
But as long as we're together that's enough
If there were just the two of us how different things would be
No one could come between us from now on
The wagging tongues would speak no more the sounds of gossip gone
Without a prying ear to fall upon

No we can't control the evil that surround us
But as long as we're together that's enough
Though we have no power over those around us
We can act as if there's just the two of us
    [ el.banjo - fiddle ]
Though clouds of doubt may drift about upon a stormy sea
I'll only draw you nearer onto me
As long as we're together we'll never walk alone
We'll build a world of sunshine of our own
No we can't control the evil...

Song: Just Between the Two of Us
Artist: Merle Haggard & Bonnie Owens
    Year: April 1966

Just between the two of us we know our love is gone
People think it's wonderful our love can be so true
You never say an angry word no matter what I do
And you have so much faith in me you trust me anywhere
But the reason if they only knew is that we just don't care
Just between the two of us let's give up this fantasy
For we no longer care enough to even disagree
Everybody envies us and the way we get along
But just between the two of us we know our love is gone
    [ steel ]
Wish we could go back again to days that used to be
We fought a lot but even then I knew you cared for me
Now we get along so well no teardrops ever fall
But there's no love no anything there's nothing left at all
Just between the two of us...

This song is titled "Elusive Dreams" by Nancy Sinatra and Lee Hazelwood

    followed you to Texas
    I followed you to Utah
    We didn't find it there
    So we moved on

    I followed you to Alabama
    Things looked good in Birmingham
    We didn't find it there
    So we moved on

I know you're tired of following
    My elusive dreams and schemes
    For they're only fleeting things
    My elusive dreams

I had your child in Memphis
You heard of work in Nashville
    We didn't find it there
    So we moved on

To a small farm in Nebraska
To a gold mine in Alaska
    We didn't find it there
    So we moved on

    And now we've left Alaska
    Because there was no goldmine

But this time only two of us move on
And now, now we have each other
And a little memory to cling to
And still you won't let me go on alone

I know you're tired of following
    My elusive dreams and schemes
    For they're only fleeting things
    My elusive dreams

    Hi SABill~

There are a couple of albums @ Amazon.com full of duets by Nancy Sinatra and Lee Hazlewood. One is called "Fairy Tales & Fantasies: The Best Of Nancy & Lee" and the other is called "Nancy & Lee 3." Maybe you could look tracks over and listen to song clips to see if any of them are what you're looking for.

I was going to mention that what you were describing sounded a little like the song "My Elusive Dreams" I just wasn't sure, but as you can see, jetstew thought so too.

Thanks for the replies, however it is none of these.

Now it could be that it is not even Nancy Sinatra...is late 60's early 70s perhaps and is a duet.

    Lyrics like:

    The Two of us
They'll always be just you and me
    The two of us

I am straining the grey matter trying to guess the whole song lyrics and fear that I give the wrong ones it will just make the task harder.

any other suggestions,,tried googling what I had without success, have looked at song charts for the years I thought and will continue to do so

    Default Is this the solution?

The two of us was a duet by Jackie Trent & Tony Hatch.

In case you can't find it, I've got it in my collection.

If you send your e-mail adress to: diane.vangent@telenet.be, I will send you the link of this number in return.

    Good luck!
