    Hi Heard a song a while back that I liked, but struggeling to find who sings it.

    Its a rock song, bit like Bon Jovi, features lyrics;

    First verse is something like;

    There's a runaway train coming down the track.
    if I hop that train I ain't not coming back.
    im on a chain gang swinging ball and chain.
    I've ben laying tracks in the driving rain.
    coming down the Chicago line.

    also has;

    "Runaway train coming down the line" and "Engine Engine Number 9"

    Done lots of searching, found nothing, Shazam also no good.

    Anyone know who it was sung by, or whats the song called.

    cheers

    john

    Could be the song "Engine Engine Number 9" originally by Roger Miller.
    It has the lyrics "Engine engine number nine coming down that railroad line"
    But i did't find a rock version of it

    Hi Thanks, but no, its not this song, I've listened to most songs on line, and read lyrics based on all the Lyric search engines, and drawn a blank. Its like a Skid Row, Bon Jovi type song, powerful and rock feel.

    Starts with

    There's a runaway train coming down the track.
    if I hop that train I ain't not coming back.
    im on a chain gang swinging ball and chain.
    I've ben laying tracks in the driving rain.
    coming down the Chicago line.

    It's not "Night Train" by Guns 'n Roses, is it? Those lyrics don't go with it, but it's worth a shot, since I can't seem to find any song with those lyrics.

    The some of lyrics you provided are similar to Brad Paisley's "Runaway Train" but he's a C&W artist.

    My other wild guess is Marshall Tucker's song, "Can't You See".
    Them that can, do; them that can't... memorize Artist and Title

    no sorry. This is what we thought the song was when it was first downloaded over 10 years ago, but on playing it, its not, its a fast paced rock song, athat features the powerful phrase "Engine Engine Number Nine!"

    I figured it wasn't but no one had suggested that song and it was the first one I thought of... Have you searched under "Runaway Train"? That's probably the title.

    Yeah, I don't think the lyrics are posted online. It's probably a more obscure song. If you didn't find it on Amazon, it might be on Discogs.
