Lp: Nin ke Ai (Columbia 1974)
    Track no: 01 (a side)

    On first of May
with the use of a penknife
they made a mark on the small window
    and some night afterwards
in a rush like wild beasts
they took you away from home

And some morning at a corner in Kokkinia
I saw the snitch passing, the murderer
I was looking for him for years
But he had death by his side

From everlasting and for ever and ever
    in my life
    you were my harborage
    But some daybrake
    on dark land
    a bullet made you fall.

And some morning at a corner in Kokkinia
I saw the snitch, the thief, the murderer
he was tied with a rope from the neck
and people kicked his head, like he was a viper

"Gilgamesh, where are you hurrying to?
You will never find that life for which you are looking.
When the gods created man they allotted to him death,
but life they retained in their own keeping"

Thank you for posting this Amethystos. I have this on CD and didn't know the singer or the name of the song. It is an extremely powerful song and wonderful to see the lyrics and translation. They don't make songs like this anymore!

On 17th August it was the 72 anniversary of “The Tragedy of Kokkinia”.

This year we had the first text about it in english, uploaded on the net.
    Here's the link -> http://www.keeptalkinggreece.com/201...315-civilians/

Reading the article will be of help to anyone who wants to achieve a better understanding of the lyrics, "the traitor wearing a hood".....
