ποιος δεν το κατανοεί;

In a swamp, left behind
there are two soldiers, two enemies
Andreas aims
for some shots to their heart
Don't shoot them Andreas
don't shoot them, cause
they're young men
they're just like us.
At Verona and at Vreni ******
some mother is waiting for them to return
They're our enemies, they're foreigners
isn't it obvious?
But there are some people
that want nations to fight each other.

******There's no big city called Vreni or Vrene afaik,
but that's actually what Pythagoras has written.
And given that the song talks about the 1940 Greek-Italian war
the most close guess would be
"Vreni" -> Verena -> Monte Verena or Casere Verena

"Gilgamesh, where are you hurrying to?
You will never find that life for which you are looking.
When the gods created man they allotted to him death,
but life they retained in their own keeping"
