    Default John Williams

John Williams from NSW Australia wrote a song 'True Blue' which became some what of a patriotic song for Australians. Can anyone tell me what the song 'True Blue' is about?

Wink Fair dinkum reply to true blue question.

Your right, 'true blue' is a patriotic and for some people a very emotional song.

In Australia "true Blue" means someone who is honest, hard working, loves their country, respects their community and will always look after their mates.

In the 'olden days' there were lots of true blue aussies who worked hard to support their families, and make this country great. The song gives us a reminder that real australian characters may be dying out.

I assume its a problem in many countries.

As the song says true blue can also relate to a very australian object (eg: Cockatoo) or an act (Standing by your mate).

The song is sometimes played at the funerals of people who have all of these genuine qualities. Eg: Steve Irwin.

Dont worry. Im still true blue, as are all my mates.

As John Williamson says in another song, "Love this place half as much as I do, then your a true blue too."
