The Sea

The sea is the soul
Unbound but never wandering
Always there
Welcoming
Beckoning you to come

Unrelenting she takes whatever she wants
While giving all that you expect of her
Her skin is the finest gossamer silk
But she won't break

The sky calls and she waves
Breathes herself to the wind
Becomes the wind
Rising to unreachable heights
Giving birth to new worlds
Before falling down at your feet

You think she doesn't hear you
As your eyes reach out and caress
The rippling expanse of her being
But in her deepest depths
Hiding among the secrets
That she will never reveal
She listens....

She knows your voice
Because you came from her

The sea is my soul
Pure and unspoiled by time
Illuminated by the stars
Aroused by the moon and your nearness
And in return, her love song
Invites the dreams that give you life

She sets a place for you
Knowing that you may be afraid
To come sit with her in the moonlight
But she doesn't mind
She'll be content to be the source
Of every great thing that you've ever done

The subtext of this prose is the Self-Actualized Woman.

Not feminist......'Before falling down at your feet' should make that clear.....

And not simply a woman 'behind the man'.....

Thank you SO much for your comment amaryn this 'poem' /prose is one of the most personally satisfying and rewarding things that i've ever written and i'm really glad that it can be enjoyed so much by others. I wrote it from an 'ocean of emotion' that really came out of nowhere.....and i even reread it myself every now and then bcs i'm so pleased with how it all came out
