Weary Traveller

Verse 1
I’m just an old and alone weary traveller
Who left his home at the age of sixteen
I’ve been all around
The stories I’ve found
You won’t believe what I’ve seen

Verse 2
I once knew a man in Kentucky
He had three kids and a wife
Nobody knew
The payment was due
He snapped and he reached for a knife

Chorus
I’ve witnessed so much
All the lives I have touched
They gave me a chance to be free
Now that I’m old
The tales I have told
Is what will be remembered of me

Verse 3
I hiked to the top of a mountain
I looked to the edge of the world
Feeling so small
When standing up tall
I saw the path that unfurled

Verse 4
Moved to downtown New Jersey
Swept up in things unforeseen
Pulled the short straw
Quick to the draw
Got locked up away with a queen

Chorus

Verse 5
Joined a travelling circus
And got shot out of a gun
Tossed under rags
Mixed up with drugs
Ignored all the rules just for fun

Verse 6
Oh how the tables have turned
I smile all alone in the herd
Never set out
To do any harm
But I’ll die with a needle stuck in my arm

Chorus
