He was a descendant of an old family
with coat of arms and titles of nobility
his grandfather was an Eptanisian Sir (1)
and his great-grandfather, were both Earl and Knight
But the descendant wearing his official uniform
works as doorman at a drama school

Drigi big mama, drigi lil mama, drun oh mum (2)
Just play some baglamas George (3)

The portraits of ancestors on the walls
and underneath swords, bows and spears
    jaunty Generals and Crusaders
and a frame of the grandmother when she was young.
But the descendant wearing his official uniform
works as doorman at a drama school

    (1) Someone from Eptanissa, group of islands positioned mainly in the Ioanian Sea.
    (2) "drigi" or "drun" represents the sound of a single chord when played
    (3) Baglamas is the smallest instrument in the following link -> http://www.music-bazaar.com/album-im...AMAS-cover.jpg

"Gilgamesh, where are you hurrying to?
You will never find that life for which you are looking.
When the gods created man they allotted to him death,
but life they retained in their own keeping"

    Thanks as always, Monsieur A.

Is that translation from the liner notes of the album? I assumed it was your original one, but then I started to think that maybe it was from the album because it looked so organized and referenced the track of the cut, etc.

Please don't be offended that I asked - it's just that I'm not yet familiar with how you present your own translations when they're "first on the web" ...

    You're welcome David

That's the way I expose my translations.
Scroll down the main Greek translations' subforum list and you'll see it for yourself.

I thought the Baglama was typically played with sad songs.

What about it, Daffy and Amethystos?

I like this one a lot

Boy this is an old one!

Not at all, Baglamas has a nice thin and acid voice so it can be used in any kind of songs
    (mostly on the right channel)
