Great Pain

Great pain sticks to your heart
It won’t let you pass your past
Yet your laugh,
It lights up a room when we are sat in the dark
Makes me wonder how my life seems so hard
And I just want to tell you
That I don’t know how you do it
How you are the way you are
How your wires are not barbed
How you taught me to be strong
Whilst in the crux of a façade
And I know that it’s not easy
And that somewhere demons are swimming
And perhaps words have no meaning
But you are,
The spirit that refused to die
The sinking ship that rode the tide
The bee that stung and stayed alive
