Default Traditional song - Ena Karavi apo ti Xio

    Hello everyone,

I need help with a translation and pronunciation for Ena Karavi Apo Ti Xio. My papou is from Xios and he immigrated from there to America and I would like to learn to sing this song. I found some music for it but I don't know how to read Greek (sorry!) If somebody could please post the Greek version in the Latin Alphabet so I can pronounce it and a translation it would be greatly appreciated!

Since this is a traditional song there may be some small differences with the words being used from one version to another.

    A ship from Chios island
    carrying it's two lifeboats
    arrived to Samos and moored
and at there it started to consider

What's the cost of a kiss
at the West, at the East?
    Married woman's cost four
    widow's fourteen.

    The unmarried one's is cheap
you can have it with only a joke
and if she kisses you once
she goes to search for some joy to another man.
"Gilgamesh, where are you hurrying to?
You will never find that life for which you are looking.
When the gods created man they allotted to him death,
but life they retained in their own keeping"
