Everybody Dies
My sister said
I didn't realize it
Until our mother died
I remember that day
In the graveyard
Everyone was smiling
Dressed in their best
As I burst into tears
Emotionally naked
It is what it is
My sister said
Cold and calculating
And it dawned on me
I never thanked my mother
For the things she did
Or wished her happy birthday
Or merry christmas
It's too late now
Eternity has moved on
But maybe it doesnt matter
On a planet where
Everything dies
Planets, animals
Microbes, people
I wanted to die
With my mother
No such luck
I remained
To write this
