Not sure when the change came
Sometime in the 1960s
Things were a lot different
Back in the late 40s
The women wore dresses
Took care of their babies
Took care of their husbands
When Women Were Ladies

It seems like another time
Seems like a different country
Women were housewives and mothers
They went to church on Sunday
The couples stayed married
They had supper together
There were few idle words
When Women Were Ladies

My mother's Aunt Bea
Now there was a lady
So was my mother
I remember those days

Not sure when the change came
Sometime in the 1960s
Things were a lot different
Back in the early 50s
A house was still a home
We were close to our families
Had picnics in the yard
When Women Were Ladies
