Amethystos - if and when you have a moment, I would really like to see your translation of this . . . if you have no time, perhaps someone else will do it for us ! And of course, I would love to know your opinion of the song. Na 'ste kala, file mou ... panta !

Here it is David. As for the song it's a strong solid "laiko". Congrats my friend!

Why do you need diamonds for
    since you're a diamond
and since you're washed into stars
    you charm my soul

    Automobiles and wealth
can transform you into another person
    (but) if noone loves you
don't you think that these things will be enough

What you need silk clothing for
    and all these fancy stuff
    silk hair of yours
    seems like moonlight's shower

For me, a lifetime is not enough
    to show you my love
a thousand caresses will be too few
    to show it to you
"Gilgamesh, where are you hurrying to?
You will never find that life for which you are looking.
When the gods created man they allotted to him death,
but life they retained in their own keeping"

Thank you a million times a million times, Amethystos. That is a perfect "colloquial" English translation - I now understand completely what Duffy wrote in Greek, based on my original English lyrics.

Na eiste kala, file mou ... pantote, panta ...
