Default Solved:Last Stop in my 35 year search for an 80s rock song. HELP PLEASE.

Been searching for a song I recorded back in the early eighties and have about given up. Then I remembered this website so this really is my last shot. I do have a copy of the song on tape that I recorded from a college radio station somewhere between 1980 and 83 I believe. But unfortunately the tape is in such bad shape I have no way to play it again and put up a copy for you to listen to. But I do know quite a bit of the lyrics so I will post them here. Back when my copy of the song was playable people that have heard it gave me two possible artist that they thought it could be but I found nothing by either artist. The two that others thought it could be are Paul Rodgers(Free/Bad Company) or John Parr. I Google the lyrics couldn't find anything by either artist. The song is a rock song with heavy keyboard and guitar. The pre chorus and chorus have some background vocals as well. If I were to take a guess at the name it would be either Surrender Your Love or Surrender. Any help would be greatly appreciated. The lyrics that I am fairly certain of are as follows: " I've chickened out of this game every day it's just the same thinking that love ain't good enough ain't good enough for me well it's high time baby we talked it out if you want to know what it's all about I'm a hard Lovin man I know you can......" another part of the song that leads into the chorus goes like this. " don't you think you/we can be strong enough Surrender Your Heart it's got to stop before it goes too far Chorus: surrender surrender surrender Your Love surrender surrender surrender Your Love baby" another part of one of the other verses has these lyrics: " Don't Look Back what's gone is gone maybe you were right but maybe you were wrong" I know that's not a lot to go on and I really wish I could post the song on here but the tape is in such bad shape. Thanks again for any help anyone can give.

Even a little bit of the bad tape would be a big help in getting the feel and sound of the song. Post it and maybe it will ring a bell with someone. I use Dropbox. It's free and easy.

Dwsiddall thanks for the tip but the problem is the tape has been chewed up and spit out so many times it simply will not play anymore. The only thing I haven't tried is the old scotch tape method to try to piece it together. Guess I have nothing to lose since tape is basically worthless and unplayable at this point.

Ok I managed to get a recording from the beat up old tape. It's very garbled but hopefully somebody can identify it from what little bit I put up. I put it to Dropbox I will send the link shortly.

Ok please read initial post for description. This is the only part of the song I could get recorded before tape died a painful death. Hopefully someone can figure this one out for me. Thanks again.

Just a guess but time and genre would match: Shnazz - Surrender (1980)

Here another song of group from same album for comparison:

    Default Have you tried...

This forum tends to work on lyrics but watzatsong lets you upload samples... and some are people singing a song or playing it on keyboard. I have lots of NPR bumper music from 30 years ago and people there have so far IDed 9 of 21... all instrumentals... usually odd world music.

    Just a thought.

OH MY GOODNESS!!!!! I cannot believe you found it robjazer. I am completely stunned and had completely given up on this. I haven't logged on here in quite a while because I had given up hope. Thank you so much.
May I ask how you found it because I have googled the lyrics, played my garbled up recording on Shazam and many other sites and came up completely empty.
I REALLY appreciate it man. It sounds great to hear it without all the tape drag ha ha
    Thanks again.
