UK question.
I have a song on tape I recorded from a Peter Powell show on Radio 1 in the 80s (at a guess I'd say maybe 1987), and I have no idea who the artist is, nor what the song's called. The recording's pretty good, so I have the lyrics which are as follows, but Shazam, Soundhound, nor any search engine recognise either the song or its lyrics, which I find a little strange. There's a possibility from the tape inlay I made that the artist's first name is John, but that's by no means certain. Anyone help out?
(missing first word or two)...snowflakes falling out of the sky
All the children singing Merrily on High
There is magic in their eyes
And you can’t disguise the feeling that they have tonight
As the million voices sing
choir-like voices (oh oh, oh oh)
Sing a song for Christmas
Happy New Year
With love to last forever
whispered (look out here comes Father Christmas)
Fanfares cut their way through the air like a knife
This day they’ll remember for the rest of their lives
Stockings filled with toys
Dolls for girls and cars for boys
Magic fills the air
As a million voices sing
(oh oh, oh oh)
Sing a song for Christmas
Happy New Year
With love to last forever
whispered (look out here comes Father Christmas)
People in church are praying
Everyone is saying
Christmas should be forever
Forever, forever, singing
(oh oh, oh oh)
Sing a song for Christmas
Happy New Year
Love to last forever
Happy new year
