positive song about growing up

err... reelin' in the years, by steely dan... its kinda a little drug referenced.. but its generally positive

Depends on what you mean by "positive". Philosophically, the act of growing up is generally marked by a transition with a bittersweet look-over-the-shoulder at something fondly left behind or lessons learned and an acceptance of new responsibilities. Most of the examples I can think are based on the artist's reflections on how they could how managed that transition better, e.g., "Time" by Pink Floyd.

It can also be a welcomed change such as the arrival of one's independence. Songs in this catagory could be "I'm a Man" by Spencer Davis Group (and a early excellent cover by Chicago) or "I'm moving out" by Billy Joel (the list is endless).

How about "I Wish" by Stevie Wonder?
