Default Diana Haddad - El Ard Ghannat Mijana

It has been a long time since I have posted here; but this song is very interesting, because it thematises the “Mijana”; a type of sung poem, a Zajal, popular in olden times (and still contemporarily) to the Lebanon, Syria, Palestine, Jordan, etc.

I would love it, if someone could be so kind as to tell me more about why Mijanat (Mijawan?) are thematised here, tell me more about Mijanat in general, and possibly correct any translation mistakes of the song. Thank you!

    El-arḍ ġannat mījānā, w en-nās gāmū yargiṣūn
The world sang a Mijana, and the people all stood up to dance
    Inta ṭ-ṭarab w es-salṭanä, inta ṣ-ṣaxab w inta s-sekūn
You are the delight and the empire, you are the turmoil and the silence

    El-arḍ ġannat mījānā, w en-nās gāmū yargiṣūn
The world sang a Mijana, and the people all stood up to dance
    Inta ṭ-ṭarab w es-salṭanä, inta ṣ-ṣaxab w'inta s-sekūn
You are the delight and the empire, you are the turmoil and the silence
    W el-arḍ ġannat mījānā
And the world sang a Mijana
    El-arḍ ġannat mījānā, w en-nās gāmū yargiṣūn
    El-arḍ ġannat mījānā

    Inta ṭ-ṭarab w es-salṭanä, inta ṣ-ṣaxab w inta s-sekūn

Neġmat ħurūfik dandanä, wasaṭ taʿābīrek fenūn
The sound of your letters is like a hum, half of your locutions are like the arts
Yā ajmali fṣūla s-sanä, lā šakki fīk u lā ẓinūn
The most beautiful of the year’s seasons does not mistrust you nor doubt you
    W el-arḍ ġannat mījānā

    Inta ṭ-ṭarab w es-salṭanä, inta ṣ-ṣaxab w inta s-sekūn

Galbek kebīr u maʿdanah, wafiyy u ma yaʿref yexūn
Your heart's core is big, it is trustworthy and does not know betrayal
Ħatta wa law kān el-ʿanā, lajlek ʿanā d-denyā yehūn
And even if it were troublesome; for you, the world’s troubles would be a breeze
    El-arḍ ġannat mījānā, w en-nās gāmū yargiṣūn
    El-arḍ ġannat mījānā

    El-arḍ ġannat mījānā, w en-nās gāmū yargiṣūn

    Inta ṭ-ṭarab w es-salṭanä, inta ṣ-ṣaxab w inta s-sekūn

Wallah, yā wajha l-hanā, kellmā lemaħtek bel-ʿeyūn
I swear your face is pure bliss, everytime I behold you with my eyes
Yaddī ʿalā katfek, w ana rāḍī meʿāk billī yekūn
My hand is on your shoulder, and with you I am alright with whatever may be
    El-arḍ ġannat mījānā, w en-nās gāmū yargiṣūn
    El-arḍ ġannat mījānā

    - Racism is not far, it is in everybody's nature. Detect thy fears, thy prejudices, and live in unison with these fears and every being that does not harm thee.
