Default oh once there was a sultan..

Does anyone know who sang the song, probably from the 1950s or 60s, that had the lyrics:

"Oh once there was a Sultan, who lived in old Baghdad,
He lived up in a palace, the only one he had..."

    also:

"ay, ay, ay, ay, in the case of the old bagdhad.."

they're the only words I remember, it was a woman singing... ?
I'm looking for the lyrics online, but can't find mention of this song..

    thanks..

Maybe it's one of the countless versions of the 30's classic "Turkish Delight" by Ray Noble and Mac Kester
