A Time For Us - Love Theme From Romeo and Juliet
- Words by Larry Kusik and Eddie Snyder and Music by Nino Rota
(from the 1968 film produced by Franco Zeffirelli and starring Leonard Whiting and Olivia Hussey)
A time for us, some day there'll be
When chains are torn by courage born of a love that's free
A time when dreams so long denied can flourish
As we unveil the love we now must hide
A time for us, at last to see
A life worthwhile for you and me
And with our love, through tears and thorns
We will endure as we pass surely through every storm
A time for us, some day there'll be a new world
A world of shining hope for you and me
For you and me
And with our love, through tears and thorns
We will endure as we pass surely through every storm
A time for us, some day there'll be a new world
A world of shining hope for you and me
A world of shining hope for you and me
I found another translation, you can get a bit of both and get a perfect translation! haha check it out, though Sandy did an amazing job!
A time for us
A day will come for us, you know
The liberty of loving here without limit
And the dream denied us will bloom
The love now concealed will be revealed
A day, you know, to live
The life that escapes us here
A day, you know, to live
The life that escapes us here
The love in us will overcome
The obstacles and the tides of adversity
And there will also be for us in the world
A time in which love will win
A time in which love will win
Δε φεύγω αν δε φύγουμε μαζί...
Thank you so much for the translation! The one Sandy provided was the theme song from the film, and yours may be a more literal translation. Either way..I win, so i appreciate the time you took to reply. Also..at the end of the reply was a paragraph in what looked (to my untutored eye) like the cyrillic alphabet..at the end was a smiley face. May I ask what it was? Again, thanks. pollyanna
Now I feel dumb...I looked at the replt again, and you told me a song, but i had already sent you a message...pollyanna
Not to put down anyone, but I think both translations of the song are wrong. The name is not even "A Time For Us ", its called "What is a Youth". I actually found the english version song by Nino Rota sung in the 1968 Romeo and Juliet Movie. Pull it up in LimeWire, search artist Nino Rota...
Thanks..I do remember the song from the movie. I know that they used completely different lyrics when it became the theme song for the movie. I just wanted a more literal translation of "Un Giorno Per Noi".
An old thread, I know. But I had to reply, and the fact I love this song.
Personally, on listening, this is a more word on word transalation. Closer.
Not to argue. But the above quote is in fact correct. The original song may have been "What's Is A Youth" But on many translations, titles and original lyrics change.
Thank you, Buia, for taking the time to add yet another translation for Un Giorno Per Noi. Languages are so interesting and have so many layers that translation can be done several ways.

A day you know, for we verra
The freedom to love to us without limits here
And fiorira the dream to we denied
Svelera the hidden love by now

The life that escapes to us here
The love in we superera
The obstacles and the tides of the adversities (of the hostility)
And us sara also for we in the world
A time in which the vincera love
For you for me
The love in we superera

And us sara also for we in the world a time in which the vincera love
A time in which the vincera love
