ναι, ναι!
ναι, ναι!
... ...
Ok !!! ... ... ...
Now, ...
There are "words" that "exist" on their own ... "capacity" ... ... ...
... AND also, ... are "brought into play" with "other" words ... !!! ... they get ... "joined together" ... form a "marriage" ... and "each" of these "words" ... give their "originality" to this "new unison", ... to "form" a new ... "perception" ... !!! ... !!! ... !!! ...
Am I making "sense" to you ?!? ... ... ...
.

Yes, I undestand what you mean.
Sorry for the delay but I was on the phone!
... ...
No worries !!! ... ... ... ...
OK, then !!! ...
Such a "word" is ... "παρα-" ... ... ...
- "παρά" ... to mean "in spite of", "but almost", "than" ...
e.g. "παρ' ολίγο" ... "almost" or, ... with "time" ... "a while ago" ...
- "πάρα" ... to mean "over", ... "excessiveness" ...
e.g. "ευχαριστώ πάρα πολύ" ...
Do you see ?!? ... ... ...
PLEASE, note the accents differ ... ... ...

I hate the accents!!!LOL!
... I know you do !!! LOL LOL LOL
When you "talk", however, it DOES make a "difference" !!! ... ...
Don't always think that you are "writing" it !!! ... ... ... I do "talk" ... aloud !!! ... when I "write" ... ... ... I "talk" to you "now" !!! ... !!! ... !!! ...
You didn't "say" whether you "got" the "last" ... part of the lesson, though ?!? ... ... ...
.

You mean the part with "παρά"? I got it. Still I can't see how παρά combines with χωρώ ( from παραχώρησα) to result in the meaning of "to grant" ? I'm waiting for you to enlighten me!

hmmm...I guess...
So, again:
you said:
"χωρώ" ... "the space where I am contained"
"πάρα" ... "over" ...
... "παραχωρώ" ... "to "over-allocate" space where I am contained"
The last part I seem to have problems with:"to "over-allocate" space where I am contained"
Does it mean like "to exceed" , to go over the boundaries of that space?
... ...
OK !!! ... let me try a "different" approach ... ... ...
Remember, as "children" ... sleeping in our ... "nice ... cosy ... small" beds ?!? ...
Now, ... το κρεβάτι χωρεί έναν ... ... ... yes ?!? ... this is "the space where one would be contained" ... ... ...
Now, remember how a "cousin" would come over to visit and would sleep in that bed too ?!? ... ... ...
Although "the bed" is "allocated" for "one" ... we would need to "over allocated" ... ... ... for the "cousin" to sleep aswell ... ... ... !!! ...
Remember how we would get into a "specific" ... "on the side" ... "position" ... ?!? ... ... ...
THAT ... is "παραχωρώ" !!!!!!! ... ... ... ...

Ok, I understand all your explanation, but I just can't figure out the exact correspondent for this verb. If you are to write one word in english as to translate it, what would it be?
I told you for me it's a little bit harder trying to learn a foreign language through another foreign language. When a blockage like this appears, I try to "come back" to my language and see if I can't find a correspondent there. Only that now, I seem to be unable to identify the right word. That's why it is so confusing. In order for me to remember one word, I NEED a correspondent(in english or romanian) .....
"παραχωρώ" ... "to cede", ... "to concede" ... "to yield" ... "to grand" ... "to relinguish" ... ... ...

Now, I get it! I thought about this correspondent in romanian(after your explanation with the child, the bed and the cousin LOL!) but I was not sure I got it right!
Thank you!
