The drunken girl


Μες στο κρύο μες στ' αγιάζι
/ mes sto krio, mes st' ayazi
in the "cold", in the "sharp night and frosty morning"
το κορίτσι μου βουλιάζει
/ to koritsi mou vouliazi
(this) girl of mine, is sinking
το σκεπάζει τ' αναφιλητό
/ to skepazi t' anafilito
sobbing is "blanketing" (the girl)

Χύθηκαν τα ξεροβόρια
/ hithikan ta xerovoria
dry cold wilds gushing
σπάν' τα ζάρια τρία αγόρια
/ span' ta zaria tria agoria
three boys, the dices, are breaking
το κορίτσι κλαίει σαν το Χριστό
/ to koritsi klei san to Hristo
the girl is crying like Christ

Μεθάει κι ανοίγει μια τρελή πηγή
/ methai ki aniyi mia trelli piyi
drunken and a mad "spring" (source) opens
το στόμα γίνεται πληγή
/ to stoma yinete pliyi
the mouth becomes wound
έχει το μίσος φτιάξει φυλαχτό
/ ehi to misos ftiaxi filahto
has the hate (to) be making (a) charm
παίζει στο θάνατο κρυφτό
/ pezi sto thanato krifto
"plays" "hide-and-seek" to (with) death

Έχει στα μαλλιά κορδέλες
/ ehi sta malia kordelles
has ribbons on the hair
στο κορμί της χίλιες βδέλλες
/ sto kormi tis hilies vdelles
on her body, thousands (of) leeches
και στο πλάι το Χάροντα σκυφτό
/ ke sto plai to Haronta skifto
and on the side, Charon (the Riper) bent over

Απ' τα μάτια της δυο στάλες
/ ap' ta matia tis dio stales
from her eyes, two drops
κι απ' τα χέρια πέφτουν κι άλλες
/ ki ap' ta heria peftoun ki alles
and from her hands more are falling
ο καημός χτυπάει σαν κεραυνός
/ o kaimos htipai san keravnos
anguish is striking like lightning

Ποιος της έδωσε μαχαίρι
/ pios tis edose maheri
who gave her (the) knife ?
ποιος αγέρας θα τη φέρει
/ pios ayeras tha ti feri
which wind will bring her ?
για ν' αστράψει ο μαύρος ουρανός
/ ya n' astrapsi o mavros ouranos
so that it may "sparkle" the blacken sky

Με το μαχαίρι κόβει τη σιωπή
/ me to maheri kovi ti siopi
with the knife (the girl) cuts the silence
κι είναι σαν πέτρα σκυθρωπή
/ ki ine san petra skithropi
and (the girl) is sullen like stone
μπλέκει τα χέρια κάνει προσευχή
/ mpleki ta heria, kani prosefhi
(the girl) "entangles" the hands, making a prayer
ποιος θα της δώσει μιαν ευχή;
/ pios tha tis dosi mian efhi
who is to be giving her a wish ?

(this) girl of mine, is being freightened

Now, let me get this straight: my considering Mazonakis just fine for dessert, it's kind of normal, according to natural laws, if I may express myself politically corect. You, on the other hand....hmmm....LOL!!!
I think I'll save some chocolate and cookies for you!!!!Something tells me it's a better choice!!! LOL!
