    Geia sou re paides ,

Could u help me , please ,with the translation of '' Ta Ladadika '' by Dmitris Mitropanos
Here are the lyrics of the song :

    Thank you in advance .

    Hey guys.

    AZIM: Great Translation.

Here is my 2 cents on this:

I believe that by "Ladadika" Mitropanos is refering to a neighborhood in Thessaloniki where in the old days it was frequented by prostitutes (and it actually held many brothels).

Here is an article that describes "Ladadika" today and also makes a brief reference to the "old" Ladadika.

Greek Food Galore » TravelBlog Archive » Wanderingly Mindlessly

Hope this helps to better make sense of this song.

    Cheers,
    Sakis.

yeap sakis all of what you said is true and if you go, know its full of clubs and bars and restaurants and whatever you want, in whichever colour you want(that's the part I didn't liked that much).
And practically the song talks entirely about the prostitutes of Ladadika and not of how Ladadika is today. And the days prostitutes were there are not so old (immagine that Mitropanos was if I'm not mistaken a teenager and he cannot be over 70)

    Great translation
    except
    Παλικαρίσια = young man's (laddish)
I agree that Λαδάδικα refers to the neighbourhood, and of course the song is about a prostitute.
It's one of my favourite songs!

    Re Azimut,
You are right. I originally read it as "meddlesome". Mettlesome is quite a nice word actually, too-rarely used which is too bad. Sorry for questioning your translation ability. But it's just not the same as the original when there doesn't exist the right word to stand in for palikarisia...anyway mettlesome is as good as it gets but you still need the image of a young man in there.
    Filika,

Very good breakdown and analysis of the grammar. I'm too amateur to think about these details. I guess I was stubborn. What else do you expect from an ono?
