    .

I'm not talking only about the article.

Cause in my example Το σπίτι της Μαριας, the name also receives an ς at the end.

As for the Greek surnames...I know the story...I also know the "misoginistic" explanation of why the woman's surname is the genitive of her husband's surname: to show possesion!!! It's soooo greek!!!! LOL!!!

Well, I have to contradict you in here!
So, assuming the man's name is Στεφανιδης ( which I found it means the son of Στεφανος) .The hypothetical son of Στεφανος gets married and his wife will be: κυρία Στεφανιδη. Which means she's a possesion of Στεφανος 's son. The "origin" Στεφανος is not to be found in her own family tree, but she gets related to the name by marriage. Therefore you can't say that the married woman's name has to do with her origins, cause actually it has to do with her husband's origins. And more that this, she doesn't take the name as it is(Στεφανιδης) but she gets "stamped" : she belongs to the son of Στεφανος!!!
    LOL!!!
    It's all about possesion!
Αχ, Ελλάδα μου, τι με κανεις?! LOL!!!!

    WOW !!! ... a "thesis" on "Greek possesion and surname of the female gender" ... ... ... !!! ... ... ...

    Your "notation" is "correct" ... !!! ... I am not "doubting" that "aspect" of it ... !!! ... ... ...

    Like I "said" ... I "choose" to "under-stand" it, the "way" I do ... !!! ... ... ...

    Besides, I "believe" that the "female" ... "NEED NOT" ... "change" her "surname" ... JUST because she "got married" ... ... ... !!! ... ... ...

    ... I "find" the ... "Spanish SURNAMES", to "be" more ... "appropriate" ... for a human "being" ... !!! ... ... ...

P.S.: Αχ, Ελλάδα μου, τι μου κανεις?!
