    Hi Kevin,

So sorry to hear about your mum. My heart goes out to you. I don't know a song specifically from son to mom, but here is one from daughter to mom that you might appreciate anyway.

Also, I have seen other "funeral" threads, you might try searching for "funeral." Or "mother-son wedding songs" might turn up some appropriate songs.

I am partial to a song called "I Grieve" by Peter Gabriel - I posted the lyrics in another funeral thread, but it is better to listen to the song if you have a chance.

    Best wishes.

Carly Simon - Like A River Lyrics

    (Carly Simon)
Dear mother the struggle is over now
And your house is up for sale
    We divided your railway watches
    Between the four of us
    I fought over the pearls
    With the other girls
But it was all a metaphor
For what was wrong with us
As the room is emptying out
Your face so young comes into view
And on the back porch is a well-worn step
And a pool of light you can walk into

I'll wait no more for you like a daughter,
That part of our life together is over
But I will wait for you, forever
    Like a river...

Can you clear up the mystery of the Sphinx?
Do you know any more about God?
Are you dancing with Benjamin Franklin
On the face of the moon?
    Have you reconciled with Dad?
Does the rain still make you sad?
Last night I swear I could feel you
    Moving through my room
And I thought you touched my feet
I so wanted it to be true
In my theater there is a stage
And a footlight you can step into...

I'll wait no more for you like a daughter,
That part of our life together is over
But I will wait for you, forever
    Like a river...

In the river I know I will find the key
And your voice will rise like the spray
    In the moment of knowing
The tide will wash away my doubt
    'Cause you're already home
Making it nice for when I come home
Like the way I find my bed turned down
Coming in from a late night out.
    Please keep reminding me
Of what in my soul I know is true

Come in my boat, there's a seat beside me
And two or three stars we can gaze into...

I'll wait no more for you like a daughter,
That part of our life together is over
But I will wait for you forever
    Like a river...

I'll never leave, always just a dream away
    A star that's always watching
    Never turn away
We'll never leave, always just a thought away
    A candle always burning
    Never turn away
The moon will hide, the tree will bend
    I'm right beside you
    I'll never turn away

My sincerest condolences....know this doesn't help now but @ my Mom's funeral we played "Wind beneath My wings" by Bette Midler. Beaches was Mom's favorite movie. And the Laurie White tune How Do I Live without you.
For anyone who maybe faced with that delimma in the future.
It's not easy my thoughts are with you.

    Default mama Il Divo

heya really sorry to hear about your loss, what about mama by il divo, the lyrics are as follows:

Mama, thank you for who I am
Thank you for all the things I'm not
Forgive me for the words unsaid
    For the times I forgot

    Mama remember all my life
You showed me love, you sacrificed
Think of those young and early days
How I've changed along the way [along the way]

    And I know you believed
And I know you had dreams
And I'm sorry it took all this time to see
That I am where I am because of your truth
And I miss you, yeah I miss you

Mama forgive the times you cried
Forgive me for not making right
All of the storms I may have caused
And I've been wrong, Dry your eyes [dry your eyes]

    Cause I know you believed
And I know you had dreams
And I'm sorry it took all this time to see
That I am where I am because of your truth

And I miss you, I miss you

Mama I hope this makes you smile
I hope you're happy with my life
At peace with every choice I made
How I've changed along the way [along the way]

Cause I know you believed in all of my dreams
And I owe it all to you, Mama

Ita a really beautiful song. I brought it for my mum for mothers day, and she said it was one of the nicest songs she had ever heard....hope the day goes ok for you

    Default funeral song

My nanna passed away in april 2007 and my mum and her brothers and sisters chose this song to be played at her funeral.

Celine Dion - Goodbyes The Saddest Word.

    Mamma
    You gave life to me
Turned a baby into a lady
    and
    Mamma
    All you had to offer
Was the promise of a lifetime of love

    Now I know
    There is no other
Love like a mother's love for her child

    And I know
    A love so complete
    Someday must leave
    Must say goodbye

Goodbye's the saddest word I'll ever hear
Goodbye's the last time I will hold you near
Someday you'll say that word and I will cry
It'll break my heart to hear you say goodbye

    Mamma
    You gave love to me
Turned a young one into a woman
    and
    Mamma
    All I ever needed
Was a guarantee of you loving me

    'Cause I know
    There is no other
Love like a mother's love for her child

    And it hurts so
    That something so strong
Someday will be gone, must say goodbye

Goodbye's the saddest word I'll ever hear
Goodbye's the last time I will hold you near
Someday you'll say that word and I will cry
It'll break my heart to hear you say goodbye

But the love you gave me will always live
You'll always be there every time I call
You offered me the greatest love of all
You take my weakness and you make me strong
And I will always love you 'til forever comes

    And when you need me
I'll be there for you all the way
I'll be there all life through
I'll be there this I guarantee

    Mamma, I'll be
I'll be there through the darkest nights
I'll be the wings that guide your broken flight
I'll be your shelter through the raging storm
And I will love you 'till forever comes

Goodbye's the saddest word I'll ever hear
Goodbye's the last time I will hold you near
Someday you'll say that word and I will cry
It'll break my heart to hear you say goodbye

    'Till we meet again...
    Until then...
    Goodbye

    I hope this helps.x

    Smile Song for any Mothers

I thought some of the members here may be interested in this Beautiful song about Mothers.
    Tui Teka "Mum"
Tui Teka is the singer, and he himself has now passed away.
It is an absolutely beautiful song that will make you cry for sure.
I hope someone goes to utube and has a look. And if you look around you will find the video of him singing it live to his own Mother.
    All the best to everyone,

My mother told me that she wants us to play Yesterday by the Beatles at her funeral. It may not fit the description of a son showing remorse for his mother, but it definitely signifies loss.

Default What Earth lost yesterday, Heaven Gained

I had a special friend to sing this for my Mother when she passed away. I don't know who the origional singer is, but it is so beautiful.
It starts out by entering and signing into the Funeral palor on the book. Three songs were played as she requested. He gave his condolences to the family.
(I am only telling you about the song)
She never had earthly treasures, she didn't want them.
Just to provide for her family, Nothing more.
She often talked about her home in Heaven,
That she had been so longing for,
So look what's happening in Heaven -
A cheer went up as she walked through the gate.
And just look who has his arm around her- And he just wiped the last tear from her eyes,
He said Child come on home Forever, Come and rest by the River of Life. He said CHILD, Come on home forever, Come and rest by the River of LIFE>

I don't know all the words or the origional singer and would appreciate anyone letting me know where I could find it.
Thank you so much. This is a beautiful song.
