    Default "honeysuckle rose" meaning

    Hi from france !
I am sure you all know this song by Fats Waller, “honeysuckle Rose”.

I am desperately trying to translate into french this song but I get stuck because of the double meaning.

Please could you help me to work these out :

“Honeysuckle Rose”  is it the honeysuckle flower or a variety of rose, a candy? Double meaning ?

Every honey bee fills with jealousy
When they see you out with me <- “you” means what ? the flower or a honey bee(male or female )…other?
    I don't blame them
    Goodness knows
    Honeysuckle rose

When you're passin' by, <- again flower or bee?
    Flowers droop and sigh
    I know the reason why
    You're much sweeter
    Goodness knows
    Honeysuckle rose

    Well, don't buy sugar
You just have to touch my cup cup? What is the meaning and double meaning ?
    You're my sugar
And it's oh so sweet when you stir it up

    When I'm takin' sips
    From your tasty lips
    Seems the honey fairly drips
    You're confection
    Goodness knows
    Honeysuckle rose

    Well, don't buy sugar
You just have to touch my cup
    You're my sugar
And it's oh so sweet when you stir it up

    When I'm takin' sips
    From your tasty lips
    Seems the honey fairly drips
    You're confection
    Goodness knows
    Honeysuckle rose

(Have no use for other sweets of any kind
since the day you came around
From the start, I instantly made up my mind,
    sweeter sweetness can't be found
You're so sweet, can't be beat
Nothing sweeter ever stood on feet)

I think u get the idea.
    thanks.

It's just a kind of flower. Bees like flowers: the sweet nectar (like sugar).

"You" is the flower (girl) (who he's comparing to the flower) (honeysuckle rose)

    Again, the flower/girl he likes.

People talk about cups of sugar, you know? Like when you borrow a cup of sugar, or measure a cup of sugar when making a cake... She doesn't need
to go out and buy any sugar, he'll give her all he needs by just touching him, more or less.

I think you get the idea?!

    Default I get it

    Thank you, Sheila.

    It's been of great help.

    Just one more thing :
    When you say :
"he'll give her all he needs by just touching him."

    Are you sure ?
For me it doesn't make sense.
    I would rather say :
"he'll give her all she needs by just touching her." ???!

    Am I confused again ?

    No, you're right, but he's SAYING she can have anything she needs from him;
just touch him and it will all come pouring out -- the metaphor of not going to
the store to spend money on sugar 'cause he has it all for free ("You just have to touch my cup"); it's just a simple thing. (I didn't mean to sound sarcastic; sorry.) (I love that song!)
