Default new here - looking for 60s song

    It had the words
"I don't want to go to the party tonight - I don't want to go to the dance
I don't want to go anywhere with you
I just want to stay here and love you."
    I'm sure it's early 60s -possibly boy/girl duet?
    can anyone help?
(tried reference books but no luck.)

"I Want to Stay Here" by Dusty Springfield; covered by other including Pet Shop Boys. The original was probably by Steve Lawrence & Eydie Gorme

I dont wanna go to the party with you
I dont wanna go to the dance
I dont wanna go anywhere with you
I just wanna stay here and love you
    (oh........oh........)

Now that I can be alone with you
I wont throw away the chance
Theres no other place like home with you
I just wanna stay here and love you
    (oh........oh........)

    All through the week
    I miss you so
But, now that Ive got you
Im gonna hold you closer and closer and closer
    (oh........oh........), ooh, ooh, oh

I dont wanna go out walking with you
And now that I am in this trance
I dont even know if Ill talk to you
I just wanna stay here and (I wanna love you, I wanna love you, i......)

I just wanna stay here and love you
I wanna stay here and love you
Yes, I wanna stay here and love you
Just wanna stay here and love you, ooh-ho, baby, baby
I wanna stay here and love you
Yes, I wanna stay here and love you

The song is "I Want To Stay Here" written by Gerry Goffin and Carole King
I found numerous covers including Pet Shop Boys, Brave Combo, Peaches and Herb, Tiny Tim

I think the earliest recording was by Eydie Gormé & Steve Lawrence (1963)
I don't want to go to the party with you
I don't want to go to the dance
I don't want to go anywhere with you
I just want to stay here and love you

Dang, "fast fingers" logan01 beat me to it

Hi...only yesterday on radio 2 i reheard this steve & eydie hit. It made me smile and cry at the same time. Music is such a powerful vehicle for emotions. A lady was talking about how much helps people with communication problems, e.g such as those afflicited with autism, giving them a means to communicate with others in and around their environment...When this ladies son was about 19 he used to play this particlar number to show he was feeling down/depressed..it gave him a key to communication, self helping himself trying to overcome it by playing a happy song. I too had difficulty in expressing to anyone how i was feeling and when this song was played it was so positive ,,light and happy the floodgates opened and i felt brilliant ...I too will use this song. thank you too that young lad.......

Now i just need to findadownload,,or a cd somewhere .???anyone help ??,,Ninja g

Sorry about the bum steer. A referring page gave me the impression that your song was on the CD. I apologize for not doing my homework.

After a little more research, I can not find an album or CD (new or old) with the song, "I Want To Stay Here". Apparently it has only been released on a 45 rpm record (7"). I did find the following three websites that offered to sell you a 45 with the song. Prices range from $3 - $25.
