    Default Need english Translation Malafemmena

    Hello,
Need italian to english translation for the song Malafemmina.
    thanks in advance.

    Malafemmena

    Si avisse fatto a n'ato
    chello ch'e fatto a mme
    st'ommo t'avesse acciso,
    tu vuò sapé pecché?
    Pecché 'ncopp'a sta terra
    femmene comme a te
non ce hanna sta pé n'ommo
    onesto comme a me!...

    Femmena
    Tu si na malafemmena
    Chist'uocchie 'e fatto chiagnere..
    Lacreme e 'nfamità.

    Femmena,
Si tu peggio 'e na vipera,
    m'e 'ntussecata l'anema,
    nun pozzo cchiù campà.

    Femmena
    Si ddoce comme 'o zucchero
    però sta faccia d'angelo
    te serve pe 'ngannà...

    Femmena,
tu si 'a cchiù bella femmena,
    te voglio bene e t'odio
    nun te pozzo scurdà...

    Te voglio ancora bene
    Ma tu nun saie pecchè
    pecchè l'unico ammore
    si stata tu pe me...

    E tu pe nu capriccio
    tutto 'e distrutto,ojnè,
    Ma Dio nun t'o perdone
    chello ch'e fatto a mme!...

Although I don't know napoletan dialect I'll give it a try

    Malafemmena
    low-ethics woman (not a wh*re)

    Si avisse fatto a n'ato
    If I did to someone(????)
    chello ch'e fatto a mme
what she has done to me
    st'ommo t'avesse acciso,
this man would have killed you
    tu vuò sapé pecché?
do you want to know why?
    Pecché 'ncopp'a sta terra
    because ... in this land
    femmene comme a te
    women like you
non ce hanna sta pé n'ommo
don't want to stay for a man
    onesto comme a me!...
    honest like me

    Femmena
    woman
    Tu si na malafemmena
    you are a low-ethics woman
    Chist'uocchie 'e fatto chiagnere..
    you made these eyes cry
    Lacreme e 'nfamità.
    tears and disgrace
    Femmena,
    woman
Si tu peggio 'e na vipera,
you are worst that a viper
    m'e 'ntussecata l'anema,
    you have intossicated my soul
    nun pozzo cchiù campà.
    I can't live anymore

    Femmena
    woman
    Si ddoce comme 'o zucchero
    you are sweet as sugar
    però sta faccia d'angelo
    but this angel face
    te serve pe 'ngannà...
    serves you to deceive

    Femmena,
    woman
tu si 'a cchiù bella femmena,
you are the most beautiful woman
    te voglio bene e t'odio
I love you and I hate you
    nun te pozzo scurdà...
    I can't forget you

    Te voglio ancora bene
    I still love you
    Ma tu nun saie pecchè
    but you don't know why
    pecchè l'unico ammore
    why the only love
    si stata tu pe me...
    you where for me

    E tu pe nu capriccio
    you for a caprice/whim
    tutto 'e distrutto,ojnè,
    everything is destroyed,...,
    Ma Dio nun t'o perdone
    but God doesn't fogrive you
    chello ch'e fatto a mme!...
    what you did to me

someone just said to me "tu si bella". I think it means "you are pretty" but before I say "thank you", I want to make sure that's what it means!

    Am I right?

Default An improvement on the translation.

Here is what I believe to be a more appropriate, it makes more sense put it that way:

Lines with [ ], mean they have been replaced with what I believe should be instead, underneath.
Phrases enclosed in {} are comments. Text enclosed (), are added phrases to enhance meaning or context, but are not to be part of the translation.

    Malafemmena
    low-ethics woman (not a wh*re) {actually "not a lady" is a better translation}

    Si avisse fatto a n'ato
    [If I did to someone(????)]
If I had done to someone else
    chello ch'e fatto a mme
[what she has done to me]
Like you had done with me
    st'ommo t'avesse acciso,
[this man would have killed you]
    That man, you would kill
    tu vuò sapé pecché?
    Want to know why?
    Pecché 'ncopp'a sta terra
    [because ... in this land]
    Because, the onus, here in this land {cause napoletan women are jealous enough to kill}
    femmene comme a te
    (goes upon) Women like you
non ce hanna sta pé n'ommo
[don't want to stay for a man]
Who can't stay with any man
    onesto comme a me!...
    [honest like me]
    Principled like me!

    Femmena
    woman {actually means very femine women}
    Tu si na malafemmena
    [you are a low-ethics woman]
    You're no lady
    Chist'uocchie 'e fatto chiagnere..
    [you made these eyes cry]
    These eyes are crying
    Lacreme e 'nfamità.
    [tears and disgrace]
    Tears and humiliation
    Femmena,
    woman
Si tu peggio 'e na vipera,
[you are worst that a viper]
You are worse than a viper
    m'e 'ntussecata l'anema,
    [you have intossicated my soul]
    You've poisoned my soul
    nun pozzo cchiù campà.
    I can live no longer

    Femmena
    woman
    Si ddoce comme 'o zucchero
    you are sweet as sugar
    però sta faccia d'angelo
    [but this angel face]
    But that angel face
    te serve pe 'ngannà...
    serves you to deceive
    [Serves only to deceive]

    Femmena,
    woman
tu si 'a cchiù bella femmena,
you are the most beautiful woman
    [You are a beautiful women]
    te voglio bene e t'odio
I love you and I hate you
    nun te pozzo scurdà...
    I can't forget you

    Te voglio ancora bene
    [I still love you]
    I love you even more
    Ma tu nun saie pecchè
    but you don't know why
    pecchè l'unico ammore
    [why the only love]
    Why the only love
    si stata tu pe me...
    [you where for me]
    was you for me

    E tu pe nu capriccio
    [you for a caprice/whim]
For you it was a whim
    tutto 'e distrutto,ojnè,
    [everything is destroyed,...,]
    All is destroyed, where now,
    Ma Dio nun t'o perdone
    [but God doesn't fogrive you]
    Even God wont forgive you,
    chello ch'e fatto a mme!...
    what you did to me[/QUOTE]

Default Simplified translation based on previous post

Here are the straight out English lyrics, based upon my previous post.

    Not A Lady

If I had done to someone else
Like you had done with me
    That man, you would kill
    Want to know why?
    Because, the onus, here in this land, is upon... {cause napoletan women are jealous enough to kill}
    Women like you,
Who can't stay with any man...
    Principled like me!

    Woman
    You're no lady
    These eyes are crying
    Tears and humiliation

    Woman
You are worse than a viper
    You've poisoned my soul
    I can live no longer

    Woman
    You are sweet as sugar
    But that angel face
    Serves only to deceive

    Woman
    You are a beautiful women
I love you and I hate you
    I can't forget you
    I love you even more
    But you don't know why
    Why the only love
    Was you for me

For you it was a whim
    All is destroyed, where now,
    Even God wont forgive you,
    What you did to me.
