Here is an ironically bitter-sweet tear-jerker, probably from some Broadway Musical, but the TITLE still evades me.

I've only heard it sung twice, once by a female pianist on Marianne McPartland's Piano Jazz (no, not Dianna Krall ;^)

so my memory of the lyrics is at best an approximate synopsis:

[Stanza] Maybe if I had dressed nicer, he would have noticed me.
[Stanza] If I had only worn my hair differently, he might have said hello.
[Stanza] If I had only said the right things....(You get the idea)
***Now here's the CLINCHER***
[Stanza] If I had only been (more) myself, he might have cared.

This has been a 12 year search, so needless to say I'll be enormously grateful for any insights.
