Learning Bulgarian language

i'm sorry-sth means something
literal meaning of "ли" hm...it is used to make questions...it is not translated in english.There isn't a certain spot of it.For example you can say:"Ти тук ли си?","Ти ли си тук?,"Тук ли си?" All means the same thing,just the stress is on different words.

I still don't understand what you mean with "your here" but..."Твоите тук" doesn't sound sensible to me

PROPEL did you mean something like this ? with this "Твоите тук" like you want to say for example your books are here "Твоите книги са тук"
or something ?

all i wanted to know is this, in enlgish "Your Here", is this how you say it in bulgarian "Tvoite Tuk"?

can you not just say "your here" in bulgarian?

like I am here - Az sum tuk.
Your here - Tvoite tuk
Shes here -......
He's here - .....
They're here -......
We're here -........

like that.

So for this "Your here - Tvoite tuk" you had to say you're here which in bulgarian will be ti si tuk not tvoite tuk, coz other way it sound mindless to me

and for the words who,what,when,where,why is this way:

Who - Koi
What - Kakvo
When - Koga
Where - Kude
Why - Zashto

But there are words for who,when,why,where. so why put li in there to make a question? all of those other words start questions..

OK,about the "li" it's not used in all question sentences.When u use a question word U can put li in a sententence only when u r wondering about something.
FE:"Къде е той"-"Where is he" but when u put "li" :"Къде ли е той"- the meaning is more like "I wonder where could he be"-that is free translation,not literal, or "Колко е часът?" - "What time is it?"/"Колко ли е часът?"- "I wonder what time is it?"

When u don't hav a qestion word u use "li" to make a question sentense, bulgarian is not like english and we have that word, that u don't...it's just like that, I don't know why, but we have it.
FE: "Там ли си?"- "Are u there?" or "Той ли ти каза?" - "Did he tell u?"

Example /Wondering about someting/: "Къде ли са ключовете ми ?" /"Where could my keys be ?"/

Example /who,what,when,where,why/ "Кой ли е този човек ?" /"Who could this man coud be ?"/

"Какво ли е това ?" /"What is supposed to be this?"/

"Кога ли ще се случи ?" /"When is this going to happend?"/

"Къде ли съм ?" /"Where am I /supposed to be/ ?"/

"Защо ли ? " /"I wonder why ?"/

2.i can use it for anything

Hmmm...za6to means why/kude mans where u can't use them in one sentence,what u wrote has no sence:Za6to kude li e tia?-Why where is she?

but zashto, kude li e tya makes sense right? "Why, where is she?" if I add a comma? hahah
like if you were responding to someone? like "no, she's not here" then you would say "Why, where is she?" yes? da? ili ne?

kazhi go ot surtse... hahahh SORRY, every time i say "da ili ne" i think of the malina song. haha

i think when you put comma it sounds goodfor example:

"she is not here"
"why,where is she?"

"Тя не е тук"
"Защо,къде е?" (i think it is better than "Защо,къде ли е?"..but anyway the two are possible)

ще is used for making future forms of the verbs.Like "will"

I will do this-аз ще направя това
you will do this-ти ще направиш това
......
....

The conjugation of the rest is the same like in present tense.

So my thought was: You can buy some of those books and learn the lessons, and then I think I'll be a lot easyer for you, because I'll be very hard to learn it only via Internet and this forum. /Songs as well/. It very important when your level is begginer to remember the basic things right. I remember while I was studying Greek i was reading the verb "einai" like, well "einai", but then I realized hat it's called "ine" . Good luck.

I think that the best way for someone, who wants to learn Bulgarian, is to come here, in our country.Yeah, It will be hard for him or her in the first months and probably during the first year but after all troubles and problems he or she will start speaking Bulgarian Language freely.


But I can't understand something yet - Why do you want to learn Bulgarian so much? Our Language isn't so popular in the other countries, I mean not like English, Spanish, French, Russian and so on ...


Anyway! If you don't know or comprehend something, we will try to explain it to you.

I'll be cheaper, to learn it via the books. Besides our country is beautiful (But only if you're here for 1 - 2weeks up to one month, but not so much if you have to live here permanently.
Anyway, I don't see the point why he musn't learn Bulgarian. Nevertheless it's language spoken by a limited amount of people, we must treat it with respect. /Every language deserves it ! /. And think of it. A lot of people know English, Spanish, French, Russian etc.. Sometimes it's just better to know something more different. I'll give an example with me: I would like to learn Icelandic A LOT, nevertheless it's spoken by 310,000 people.
Anyway the number of speakers of the language shouldn't bothers you if you really want to learn it.

pitbull toma, the reason why I want to learn bulgarian is;
i first heard the song, iskam iskam (malina i azis), and I thought "this is a beautiful langauge" and i listened to more malina songs and fell in love with the langague and her. hahah
and i just kept wanting to learn more and more! i think its neat because out here in the US, people really dont know much about Bulgaria. and people dont even know what Bulgarian sounds like! and I feel awsome knowing something that people have never heard of before.
