Default Serge Gainsbourg - Je t'aime...moi non plus

Hello all! Please, could you translate to English this song Je t'aime...moi non plus?

    Je t'aime, je t'aime
    oh, oui je t'aime!
    moi non plus
    oh, mon amour...
    comme la vague irrésolu
je vais, je vais et je viens
    entre tes reins
    je vais et je viens
    entre tes reins
    et je me retiens

    je t'aime, je t'aime
    oh, oui je t'aime!
    moi non plus
    oh mon amour...
tu es la vague, moi l'île nue
tu va, tu va et tu viens
    entre mes reins
    tu vas et tu viens
    entre mes reins
    et je te rejoins

    je t'aime, je t'aime
    oh, oui je t'aime!
    moi non plus
    oh, mon amour...
    comme la vague irrésolu
je vais, je vais et je viens
    entre tes reins
    je vais et je viens
    entre tes reins
    et je me retiens

tu va, tu va et tu viens
    entre mes reins
    tu vas et tu viens
    entre mes reins
    et je te rejoins

    je t'aime, je t'aime
    oh, oui je t'aime!
    moi non plus
    oh mon amour...
    l'amour physique est sans issue
je vais, je vais et je viens
    entre tes reins
    je vais et je viens
    et je me retiens
    Non! Maintenant viens!

I did my best, dear lollipop! But i have a small doubt what concerns a phrase:

*entre tes reins i translated it this way: between your back, but i know it doesn't make any sense. Reins means also kidneys, but i don't think it could be translated by: "between your kidneys"! I'm a little confused. If someone could help me, i would appreciate that!

    Hello,
when I was young we wanted our french teacher to translate this song into german. She refused to do it, she just said this song is not only about love but about sex. So I guess, with a little imagination we all know what they meant with back and kidneys.....

In the form of a response, in this case (so I believe) "Moi non plus" can be translated into "I love you, not" in English. "Me neither" is a more direct translation, but this doesn't really work in the context. The above works better with the English dialogue of "I love you. I love you, not". Just my thoughts. Take care, everyone.

My husband's French dictionary says that word (reins) has a literary usage for "loins."

It means "I want to cum between your Kidneys"
A French guy used to fancy me and he translated all of serge's songs for me.
Not so romantic.. lol.. but there it is!

The Final Verse was not translated properly.
    It Goes Something Like this;

    je t'aime, je t'aime
    oh, oui je t'aime!
    moi non plus
    oh mon amour...
    l'amour physique est sans issue
je vais, je vais et je viens
    entre tes reins
    je vais et je viens
    et je me retiens
    Non! Maintenant viens!

I love you, I love you
    oh, yes I love you!
    no longer me
    oh my love ...
    physical love is without end
    I go, I go and I just
    between your kidneys
    I go and I just
    and I hold
    No! Now come!

I'm French "je vais et je viens entre tes reins " means "I go in and go out through the back door". in this case it is a bit less explicit and much more poetic.
"telle la vague iresolue": refers to the waves movements.
"l'île nue": you can easily understand.
"Moi non plus" is a funy way to say me too.

Hiya. "Entre tes reins" translates as "Between your loins". Makes slighty more sense. Hope this helps.

Ok a couple things that have either been stated wrong, or stated wrong and fixed and I want to restate.
    1) "Moi non plus" means "me neither". It's not "a funy* way to say me too" (*nice spelling), it's not "no longer" or whatever. It's "me neither". The whole point is that in response to "I love you" he's saying "me neither". It's supposed to be weird.
    2) "Entre tes reins" means between your loins. He's saying "I go and I come between your loins". It's not "I want to cum between your kidneys". It's also not "I go in and go out through the back door" (which by the way is just as explicit if you know anything about words and what "the back door" could refer to).
    3) Reidyboi, "I go and I just"? Really? Why would that seem more correct to you than "I go and I come"?

In fact "je vais et je viens entre tes reins "is a french idiom to talking about anal sex, so I think that you can't traduce by I go and and I come between your loin exept if it mean : I moving back and forth within your butt in english too .(sorry for the children)

You're exactly right. Every single French (and Quebecois) person that I have ever spoken to about this song says that entré tes reins and entré mes reins absolutely refers to anal sex. Which is why I giggle every time I see the Natalie Portman Miss Dior commercial (even though they intentionally leave that verse out)
