    Default I need help with my greek course

    Yia sas friends,
    I have been taking greek course at university for 2 semesters and I cannot join 1 and a half hours of the course because I have a conflict w,th another lesson. So, in some greek texts I need some help. I will write down the texts here, actually I understand some of the things there but I need the exact translations. So, if you help me, I will really be happy and thankful to you. Here is one of the texts (a dialogue). I am writing it in latin letters and if I have any mistakes and if you improve me, I will be very pleased. It is about seasons and colours. Thanks in advance

    I wrote them in Greek cause it's easier for me.

    A- Τέλος Νοεμβρίου και νομίζεις ότι είναι καλοκαίρι.
    It’s the end of November and you think that it’s summer.
    Indeed. This year we had very good weather during the fall, while the summer was sort of cool. Rains on June, wind on July and heat only few days at the beginning of the August.
    A- Τώρα τελευταία ο καιρός αλλάζει απότομα, και δεν καταλαβαίνουμε ούτε άνοιξη ούτε φθινόπωρο. Ο παππούς μου λέει την παροιμία «από Αύγουστο χειμώνα και από Μάρτη καλοκαίρι» και μάλλον δίκιο έχει.
    Lately the weather changes suddenly, and we don’t understand neither spring nor fall. My grandfather says the proverb “from August winter and from March summer” and probably he’s right.
    b- Έτσι λέω κι εγώ και νομίζω ότι σιγά σιγά θα έχουμε μόνο δύο εποχές, καλοκαίρι και χειμώνα.
    I believe that too* and I think that little by little we will have only two seasons, summer and winter.
    A- Και η άνοιξη με τη δροσιά και το γλυκό καιρό δε θα υπάρχει;
    And the spring with the coolness and the mild weather won’t exist?
    B- Ε, η άνοιξη, η εποχή των λουλουδιών με το γαλάζιο ουρανό και τον ήλιο που λάμπει κάθε μέρα, θα υπάρχει μόνο στα βιβλία.
    Eh, spring, the season of the flowers with the blue sky and the sun that shines every day, will exist only in the books.
    A- Σωστά, θα είναι κι αυτή σαν το χιόνι, γιατί χρόνια τώρα χιονίζει μόνο στα βουνά, κι εμείς εδώ στην πόλη χιόνι ακούμε και χιόνι δε βλέπουμε.
    Right, this will be like snow too, cause so many years it snows only on the mountains, and here in the city we hear about snow and we don’t see snow.
    B- Καλά τα λέμε εμείς οι δυο, αλλά έχουμε και δουλειές. Δες έξω νυχτώνει… Κι είναι ακόμη νωρίς, μόνο τεσσερισήμισι. Χειμώνας βλέπεις, και οι μέρες είναι μικρές και οι νύχτες μεγάλες.
    Our chat is fine**, but we have jobs too. Look outside, it’s getting dark… And it’s still early, only 4.30. You see it’s winter, and the days are small and the nights big.

    * I say like that too. Means that I say the same thing, I believe the same.
    ** It’s not the exact translation, but it has the same meaning.

    There are some tiny mistakes, but I'm sure that you made them cause of rush.

    zasti -> the right is zesti (in another phrase you wrote it correctly )
    allezei -> allazei
    lene -> leme. Lene isn't wrong but in the phrase the correct form is this one.

    ΕΠΙΣΤΡΟΦΗ ΑΠΟ ΤΙΣ ΔΙΑΚΟΠΕΣ
    RETURNING FROM THE VACATIONS

    Χθες τα παιδιά γύρισαν από τις καλοκαιρινές διακοπές τους. Μόλις έφτασαν στο σπίτι, άνοιξαν όλα τα παράθυρα. Πόση σκόνη είχε, Θεέ μου! Οι τρεις φίλοι μοίρασαν αμέσως τη δουλειά στα τρία. O ένας σκούπισε τα δωμάτια, ο άλλος καθάρισε τα τζάμια και ο τρίτος ξεσκόνισε.
    Yesterday the guys returned from their summer vacations. Once they arrived at the house, they opened all the windows. How much dust there was (it had), my God! The three friends shared immediately the work in three (parts). One of them swept the rooms, the other cleaned the panes and the third brushed up.
    Τα παιδιά δούλεψαν τέσσερις ώρες χωρίς διακοπή. Το αποτέλεσμα όμως ήταν καταπληκτικό. Στο τέλος το σπίτι έλαμπε από καθαριότητα. Αφού καμάρωσαν το έργο τους οι φίλοι μας, πήγαν για ύπνο κουρασμένοι αλλά ευχαριστημένοι.
    The guys worked for about four hours without a break. But the result was amazing. At the end the house was shimmering by the cleanness. Since they bristled their work our friends, they went to sleep exhausted but happy.

    My beloved friend,
    I've been in Greece for a month now. I wrote, I rewrote, but I did not get an answer from you. Why? Is it possible that you are not okay? Nobody knows me yet here. A lot of university students from our country live close to my house, but I do not know them very well. I only see them every morning at the (bus) stop and greet them. Giannis is here too, but I only meet him every Sunday, because he works outside of Thessaloniki. I am thinking about you and our friends. Greek is not that hard. I understand it and I speak a bit, but I make a lot of mistakes. I am waiting for your news. Write to me or call.
    Greetings

    I'm back. @Kaith: your translation is perfect! Well done my friend... btw how do you know Greek?

    ΠΟΛΛΕΣ ΔΟΥΛΕΙΕΣ
    MANY LABORS

    Α- Πού ήσουν, Πέτρο;
    Petros, where were you?
    Β- Ήμουν στην Καβάλα. Είχα μια δουλειά εκεί.
    I was in Kavala. I had labor there.
    Α- Πότε έφυγες;
    When did you leave?
    Β- Έφυγα στις έξι του μηνός και γύρισα στις είκοσι.
    I left on 6th of this month and I came back on 20th.
    Α- Με τι πήγες;
    With what did you go?
    Β- Με το δικό μου αυτοκίνητο.
    With my car.
    Α- Αγόρασες αυτοκίνητο;
    Did you buy a car?
    Β- Ναι, τον περασμένο μήνα.
    Yes, last month.
    Α- Καλορίζικο! Πώς ήταν ο καιρός στην Καβάλα;
    I wish to have luck! How was the weather in Kavala?
    Β- Όχι και τόσο καλός. Φθινόπωρο είναι, κι έκανε αρκετό κρύο. Έβρεξε κιόλας, κι εγώ κρύωσα και έμεινα δυο μέρες στο κρεβάτι.
    Not so good. It’s fall, and there was cold. Also, it rained, and I caught a cold and I stayed two days on the bed.
    Α- Τουλάχιστον, τελείωσες τις δουλειές που είχες εκεί;
    At least, did you finish the labor you had there?
    Β- Ευτυχώς, ναι.
    Hopefully, yes.

    * That's what we say when we buy something new. Kaloriziko means good destiny/luck/fate, so that something to have good luck.

    *Οριστική
    *Indicative
    *Αόριστος
    *Simple past

    => Ο αόριστος δείχνει μια πράξη που έγινε και τελείωσε στο παρελθόν και παρουσιάζεται στο σύνολό της, σαν να ολοκληρώνεται σε μια στιγμή, συνοπτικά, χωρίς να τονίζεται η διάρκεια ή η επανάληψη της πράξης.
    => Simple past shows an action which it started and ended in the past and it is presented as a whole total, as if it is completed in a moment, synoptically, without to emphasize on the duration or the repeat of this action.

    Α- Τι ψάχνεις;
    What are you looking for?
    Β- Θέλω ένα στυλό.
    I want a pen.
    Α- Πού είναι το δικό σου;
    Where is yours?
    Β- Το έχει η Αλίκη και γράφει.
    Alice has it and she’s writing.
    Α- Πάρε ένα από την τσάντα μου.
    Take one from my bag.
    Β- Αυτή είναι η τσάντα σου;
    Is this your bag?
    Α- Όχι, αυτή είναι της Θεοδώρας. Η άλλη είναι η δική μου.
    No, this is Theodora’s. The other one is mine.
    Β- Μα είναι ίδιες. Της δικής μου τα τσεπάκια είναι πιο μεγάλα.
    But they look the same. The pockets of mine (my bag) are bigger.
    Β- Έχασα και τον αναπτήρα μου.
    I lost my lighter.
    Α- Πάρε το δικό μου. Είναι απάνω στο τραπέζι.
    Take mine. It’s on the table.
    Β- Εντάξει. Εσύ, τι γράφεις;
    Ok. What are you writing?
    Α- Ασκήσεις;
    Exercises (I’m doing my homework).
    Β- Ακόμη; Τις δικές μου τις τελείωσα από χθες το βράδυ.
    Still? I finished mine since yesterday night.
    Α- Ε, δεν έχουμε όλοι τη δικιά σου εξυπνάδα!
    Eh, we don’t have all your smartness! (we’re not all as smart as you are)
