Default Solved: instrumental hit with guitar solo and flute in background

Can anyone help me identify this song (no clip available)? It was an easy-listening hit probably in the 70s or 60s. It had a guitar solo with flute coming in in the background playing seven 16th notes followed by an eighth note (on the up beat) and a quarter note.

This is gonner be tough. Do you have any more information to narrow it down?
Was the entire song an instrumental or just the guitar/flute solo?

Two groups from the 1970's that repeatedly used a flute in their music were The Moody Blues and Jethro Tull. However, I would not classify either group as easy-listening (well, maybe by comparison to today's thrash metal...).

    The entire song was instrumental.

Similar in genre to "Theme from a Summer Place."

Well, you just eliminated my number one guess, so the really wild guessing starts...

"Love is Blue" by Paul Mauriat featured flute, strings, some guitar and a keyboard played to sound like a harpischord.

"Classical Gas" had a guitar lead but trombones and violins were more heavily featured than any other symphonic instrument.

The song "Baby Elephant Walk" by Henry Mancini from the John Wayne movie, "Hatari", featured flute and/or piccolos but I don't remember a guitar part.

Thanks for trying. Still haven't found it, but I'll keep looking.

As I recall, the flute(s) start out with a "da-da-da-da-da-da-da-daht-dahh" (pause) "da-da-da-da-da-da-da-daht-dahh" (repeat over and over). Then the guitar comes in with the melody.

    Hope this helps.

Well, maybe we'll find it by the process of elimination...

"Love's Theme" - Love Unlimited Orchestra (Barry White) prominently featured violins and a guitar (with a wah-wah pedal) but there's a brief duet with mostly guitar and flute work.

The original theme from the movie, "Midnight Cowboy" features a harmonica but I remember an orchestral version with woodwinds and/or flutes and a guitar replacing the harmonica.

The Mission Impossible: Theme Song heavily features flute work (yeah, I'm getting desperate)
