Thanks to all who have tried to help. Unfortunately, it is definitely not "Tarzan Boy" as that song is too upbeat. This song is more of a classic 80's Howard Jones type of song and I may be doomed to wait another 10 years until I hear it again. Thanks!

Although they're a UK band no one has heard it over here in the UK... I only know it thru some American friends

They had I think five hits in the States, and only one here (my favourite Dance Hall Days) which I think didn't make the top 20.

Sorry, but I'm so excited. I don't know if anyone has guessed correctly but I'm pretty sure it's "Something about you" by Level 42! I used to love that song as a kid even though the only word I understood was "tonight". Lol I hope this is it!!!!
