Could anyone help me with the name of a german rock band, last time i heard from them was back in 2000 or around that time. They used to had their music in a DSF (german tv channel) commercial.
The singer looked like the singer from The Rasmus.

any chance that you remember something from the songs? a video maybe? do they sing in German or English?
I can't think of anything yet, my first idea was Tokio Hotel, but they were founded in 2003 and I can't imagine DSF playing any of their songs.

I dont remember any song in particular, I remember they sing in german. And I'm not sure but I think the band or one of the songs was called something like "link".

It's hard to make suggestions where you could say "Oh yes! That's them!"

I also thought of Blind Guardian, but they don't have German songs as far as I know.
But I really don't know how you can recognize them as the band you are searching for if I can't provide you one of the videos you've heard back then.
Tentatively I also suggest to have a look at Rammstein I can very well imagine them being played on DSF back then, they are some dark kind of rock band, the singer changes his style from time to time and they are quite melancholic.होता है जो होना है ... वक़्त ही शायद खुदा है ...

Its none of the bands you sugested, their style wasnt metal, more like a alternative rock.
I think the video from a song was in some kind of a abandoned psychiatric hospital.

another attempt... Oomph! - prominent around that time, music style might fit, singer's style is extraordinary and they have a whole lot of songs in German, though some are English too

On the German wiki I found information on this band and about a videoclip in an hospital.
Could not find the english translation , but it is this band(from Switzerland btw)

I think they were a rather recent band at the time, their rock was melancolic, sad.
I dont think they had an international carrear, as I ddnt heard from them, except on german music channels. -
