Default Un frase de una cancion

Theres one sentence in a song that says ....

    "No te quiero hablar"

I'm trying to be clear, in english would you say ...

"I don't want to talk to you" or ... "I don't want you to talk".

I'm thinking I dont want you to talk. For exmaple: I don't want you to talk, just listen. Wouldn't it be that?

Or is it, I don't want to talk to you?

    in english it would be

"i don't want to talk to you" or "I dont' want to speak to you"

in the case you want to say "I don't want you to speak" it would be "No quiero que hables"

Muchas gracias!!! Eso es que pense pero no estaba seguro porque me acoustombro que gente dicen "no quiero hablar contigo" para "I dont want to talk to you". Pero es solo una forma de hablar.

    De todos modos ...

Muchas gracias! Que tengas un buen dia!

Hi Luis: you seem to have pretty good Spanish skills.

A good tip to clear up this type of confusion is by looking at the conjugation of the verb, ie: the infinitive ending of the verbs as this tells you who is doing the action.

    Like Trikala said:

I don't want YOU to speak = no quiero que hables (or no quiero que TU hables)

The above has 2 verbs - quierO and hablES.

The O ending in quiero refers to the action performed by personal pronoun "YO", the ES ending in hables refers to action performed by personal pronoun "TU".

    In the second scenario:

i don't want to talk to you = no te quiero hablar

The above has 2 verbs as well, however, here, only one verb is conjugated (quiero), the other is in the infinitive (hablar), but both refers to actions performed by pronoun "YO".

Clear as mud, I know, but hope it helped a little!
