    Thumbs up Great choice

Back in 1984 there was an album called "Φόρα παρτίδα" by a phainomenon artist!!!!!! called Yianni Yiokarinis

It was meant to be an enormous hit called "Ax Eylampia" from tis Lp.

Here are the links for it, where you can find a photo of Yiokarinis, the original song, the lyrics in Greek and something interesting

    http://lp-zw.pblogs.gr/2008/02/ehei-...-eflampia.html

Back in 80's there was another hit of Yiokarinis called "Nostalgos tou Rock 'n' Roll" that you can listen in here
    http://youtube.com/watch?v=y8UjLT7Jngg

So the so-called singer Nino Xipolitas recorded a newer version of this "classic" hit.

But the best EVER version of "Ax Eylampia" was given by the famous duet Yianni Zouganelis (aka Zouga) and Saki Boulas in this link

Sorry for not translating this one, it's beyond my imagination to do so.......
"Gilgamesh, where are you hurrying to?
You will never find that life for which you are looking.
When the gods created man they allotted to him death,
but life they retained in their own keeping"

This is one of my fave songs. I cannot translate all of the song. My partner is Greek and he loves it, too..
As far as I know, it is about a man who meets the love of his life in the waiting room of the dentists!!!

Indeed it's a very difficult song, but I gave a try so to have an idea.

    Oh Evlampia

I met you in IKA*, you were waiting in front of me for the dentist
You were 16 years old, but you looked like older**
I winked to you, but you were looking for something to calm your toothache
I forgot my name, when you suddenly turned back and you gave me a sweet kiss
Oh Evlampia, your disease has become incurable
Oh Evlampia, I will try to find you a doctor

In a canteen I took two pieces*** and you said “I pay”
You took me somewhere to dance and you were the best dancer
I fell for you, your sweetness, your kiss, I got mad and I can’t (stand it more)
    Θα ψάξω για κουμπάρο, μου λείπει το κολάρο, αλλά κουστούμι που θα 'βρω;
I will search for a best man, I don’t have a collar, but where can I find a tuxedo?
    (Evlampia has brain//she's sharp)
Oh Evlampia, you infected me too with your disease
Oh Evlampia, where I can find an antidote

I wore my best cloths, I told it to my dad and I was in hurry to come
I’m out of your house and I’m waiting but I don’t dare to come inside
I think about it for a while, I button up my jacket and I ring your door bell
Your mother opens the door, she calls your dad and they told me that you’re not here

    Πού 'σαι Ευλαμπία;
    Evlampia, where are you?
Oh Evlampia, your disease has become incurable
Oh Evlampia, I will try to find you a doctor

    One more time...

Oh Evlampia, you infected me too with your disease (Again…)
Oh Evlampia, where I can find an antidote

I'll do the dirty job basically the singer is trying to say that Evlampia had a big derriere

The artist WOULD NOT give that kind of translation
