Default Alin Garlea - Romania **translation and message**

Here is the song, already translated

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fLg-c22VhGU

I do understand the words but I do not really understand the message
Anyone can explain it to me?

    ********
    Atata lacrimi si durere
    Atata lipsa de mangaiere
Vad la orice pas in tara mea
    Atatea familii destramate
Atatia copii fara mama si tata
Stau si ma gandesc de ce asa
Si ma doare, ma doare inima (inima)
Cand ma gandesc, cand ma gandesc
    la tara mea

    3x
    Romania, ai nevoie de Dumnezeu
Romania, ai nevoie de Fiul Sau
Acum e timpul sa te trezesti
Sa te intorci cu adevarat la Dumnezeu

    Atata freamat si incordare
    Atata lipsa de alinare
    Vad acum in tara mea
    Atata ura si minciuna
Pacatul se inalta ajuns la culme
    Ma intreb de ce asa
Si ma doare, ma doare inima (inima)
Cand ma gandesc, cand ma gandesc
    La tara mea

    Romania, ai nevoie de Dumnezeu
    .....

No one's answered you, so I'm gonna do my best & someone can correct it later

    Atata lacrimi si durere
    So much tears & pain
    Atata lipsa de mangaiere
    So much lack of caressing
Vad la orice pas in tara mea
I see in every step (I take) in my country
    Atatea familii destramate
    So many broken-up families
Atatia copii fara mama si tata
So many children without (their) mom & dad
Stau si ma gandesc de ce asa
I stay & I think "why is it like this?"
Si ma doare, ma doare inima (inima)
& it hurts me, it hurts my heart
Cand ma gandesc, cand ma gandesc
When I think, when I think
    la tara mea
    about my country

    3x
    Romania, ai nevoie de Dumnezeu
    Romania, you need God
Romania, ai nevoie de Fiul Sau
    Romania, you need his son
Acum e timpul sa te trezesti
Now it's time for you to wake up
Sa te intorci cu adevarat la Dumnezeu
    Return, really/honestly, to God

    Atata freamat si incordare
    So much murmur & tension
    Atata lipsa de alinare
    So much lack of comfort
    Vad acum in tara mea
I see now in my country
    Atata ura si minciuna
    So much hate & lie
Pacatul se inalta ajuns la culme
The sin raises till(?) it reaches the peak
    Ma intreb de ce asa
I ask myself "why is it like this?"
Si ma doare, ma doare inima (inima)
& it hurts me, it hurts my heart
Cand ma gandesc, cand ma gandesc
When I think, when I think
    la tara mea
    about my country

    Romania, ai nevoie de Dumnezeu
    Romania, you need God

As for the meaning, the YouTube site says "The song and video focus in part on what happened at the revolution in 1989 due to the spiritual hunger of the people."

    Hey,

I'm some a little bit annoyed of this video, maybe it made some good years ago, because the situation in Romania had changed and it's still changing.
So, for you to understand, the Revolution took place in December 1989 and had the purpose to end the comunism "epoque". Ceausescu's family (president) him and his wife were murdered in Tirgoviste. On that time (comunism) the religion was brutally interdicted. Well, more or less, because there were still people who went to the church.

    Anyway, a long time passed.

I hope I cleared up your curiosity.

    Hello igrec,
what do you think young romanian people (say about 25 Y.) opinion would be predominant today about this video?

Do they realize the present is the result (or at least concerns) of the past or do they prefer to forget and live without these memories?
Memories that they have made in their childhood.

Why do you feel a little bit annoyed of it?

It would be very interesting for me, if more people (religious or not) say some words about this video

    Hey,

Well, I said it's annoying for me because nowadays this doesn't happend and this provides a bad image to my country. I find it funny but in the same time horror because what happend in the past made an actual image for Romania.

People didn't forget because we cannot forget history. (we, as Romanians) That periode had good results too, but from '80 the people were not pleased with conditions and imports/exports. Anyway, in '89 everything ended. We all remember how was then, some of us regret the Revolution, some of us don't.

Few Romanians are not religious. Because Romania is the country with the biggest number of churches

    Salut igrec,
I do not think that the video provides a bad image of Romania at all, at least not in my opinion.

A poor country is not a bad country and if Romania nowdays is still a poor country this does not mean the romanian people as a whole is to blame for it.
In my eyes the romanian people should be proud about the history of their country. Most of them did not have any chance to avoid the regimes Romania had to suffer in the past.

The video is in my opinion a very good piece of history and is a wonderful example for what people are able to do, if they have the possibility to change for the better, without guns and tanks threatening them.

And now something I would compare in order to increase self-confidence (I think this is the mayor trouble romanians have nowadays):
as I believe Manele is considered in Romania to be the music of the "underclass". For me as a foreigner is Manele such a beautyful music that I do not understand why some romanians think so. And by the way, what is "underclass" ?

For me Manele is the music that indentifies a country: Romania, whether is it wanted or not.

When I take a look at the top10 of Romania I see there is only this one little differenz, since most of the other titles are also in the top10 in the rest of the world...

Not the imitaion of other cultures give people self-confidence but the awareness about the own one.

I hope my message will be not misunderstood.
Is not easy to explain these feelings in short without to be misunderstood !! specially than, if english is not your mother language.

I love Romania and I love his people, this is why I am in this forum

    Salut.

This kind of music "manele' is underclassed because the accords, melodic line it taken by the greek music and turkish (and why not, arabic) and that's why I don't like it.
Anyway, I don't like, not my best subject, but History it is

Romania's history is awesome ! Because Romanians always foguht for right, liberty and our rights. We;re couragous, smart and inventive. Not because I am Romanian (and I don't deny it, I'm very proud!) but check out the workers in Nasa, Microsoft. The second language spoke there is Romanian.

I'm glad you love my country and I respect you for this. But where are you from ?

For any help you need, just ask it
