    Karakaş Gözlerin Elmas

    Karakaş Gözlerin Elmas
    Bu Güzellik Sen De Kalmaz
    Pişman Olun Kimseler Almaz
    Annene Bak Gör Halini

    Gel Güzelim Beni Yakma
    Seni Seven Kalbi Yıkma
    Allah Dahi Kalbi Yıkmaz
    Öldürücü Gözle Bakma

    İnsanların Kalbi Belli
    Canlıları Yaşatan Odur
    Bir Saniye Gönlünü Kır Da
    Gel De Benim Kalbime Gir

    Gel Güzelim Beni Yakma
    Seni Seven Kalbi Yıkma
    Allah Dahi Kalbi Yıkmaz
    Öldürücü Gözle Bakma

    Ne Gecem Ne Gündüzüm Belli
    Yaşım Oldu Kırkdokuz Elli
    Bağrım Yanık Gözlerim Nemli
    Yalan Dünya Yaktın Beni

    Gel Güzelim Beni Yakma
    Seni Seven Kalbi Yıkma
    Allah Dahi Kalbi Yıkmaz
    Öldürücü Gözle Bakma

    Ercan Söyler Hakiki Sözü
    Geçti Bahar Getirdik Yazı
Bir Gün Ölür O Zalımın Kızı
    Annene Bak Gör Halini

    Gel Güzelim Beni Yakma
    Seni Seven Kalbi Yıkma
    Allah Dahi Kalbi Yıkmaz
    Öldürücü Gözle Bakma

    Translation:
Eyebrows black,Your Eyes are of Diamond

Eyebrows black,Your Eyes are of Diamond
Your Beauty does not remain the same
    You regret,no one marries you
    see your mother consider yourself

Come sweetie do not set me on fire
Do not shatter the heart loving you
Even God does not shatter hearts loving
Don't look at with killing eyes

    Hearts of people are apparent
That is the thing that keeps beings alive
For a second shatter my heart
    Then come into it

Come sweetie do not set me on fire
Do not shatter the heart loving you
Even God does not shatter hearts loving
Don't look at with killing eyes

Neither my night nor my day is certain
My age has been forty nine-fifty
my chest on fire,my eyes wet
Hollow world you set me on fire

Come sweetie do not set me on fire
Do not shatter the heart loving you
Even God does not shatter hearts loving
Don't look at with killing eyes

    Ercan tells the truth
    spring passed,summer has come
One day the daughter of the cruel will die
    See your mother consider yourself

(Ercan is the surname of the minstrel known in Turkish as "mahlas")

Come sweetie do not set me on fire
Do not shatter the heart loving you
Even God does not shatter hearts loving
Don't look at with killing eyes

    The Story of the song:

In 1948,Ali Ercan fell for a girl with black eyebrows, black eyes and nearly tanned skin named Emel in the pavillion he had worked in İstanbul.Everything was fine till one day their ways seperated. That was the rule of the nature that was probable for every bachelor,to love and to wait.

Even years passed,Ercan was never able to forget Emel.In 1959,after the invitation of Neziha Babacaner, the music teacher in Gaziantep Teacher School,he went to Gaziantep so as to participate in folk dances show.At that time,he had agreed with a pavillion there and started to work there. That night he saw Emel again in that pavillion. After eleven years having passed, coincidences had brought them together.

Emel's bedroom was just facing the room Ercan sleeped. That night, not being able to escape the effect of the joy of first love,Ercan couldn't sleep till the following morning. At the dawn the door was knocked on and there was an old lady standing. She said "Son,why don't you sleep?"Then he found out that that old lady was Emel's mother.Later Emel came and said :"The mountains between us should come to an end any more. However,it seemed that the face of Emel's mother getting uglier left a weird impression on Ercan who then unrevealed the melody and lyrics of this folk song like a lightning. After mother and daughter went,Ercan wrote off everything on the paper and with this reason, that night that song was sung on the stage in the pavillion and got famous.
