Smile (*) Vicente Fernandez - Me Cansé de Rogarle

Buenos Días, will someone translate this song? ¡Gracias!

    Me cansé de rogarle,
    me cansé de decirle
    que yo sin ella
    de pena muero...
    Ya no queria escucharme...
    si sus labios se abrieron
    fué pa' decirme...
    ya no te quiero.

    Yo sentí que mi vida
    se perdía en un abismo
    profundo y negro
    como mi suerte...
    quise hallar el olvido
    al "estilo Jalisco"
    pero aquellos mariachis
    y aquel tequila
    me hicieron llorar.

    Me cansé de rogarle...
con el llanto en los ojos
    alcé mi copa
    y brindé...por ella...
    no podía despreciarme,
    era el ùltimo brindis
    de un bohemio...
    por una reina.

    Los mariachis callaron...
    de mi mano, sin fuerza,
    cayó mi copa
    sin darme cuenta...
    ella quizo quedarse
    cuando vió mi tristeza.
    pero ya estaba escrito
    que aquella noche
    perdiera su amor.

Yes, bedroomeyes, great translation. I was just looking for this song in order to learn to sing it and figure out the chords for this upcoming Monday. My mother loved this song. She's from Spain, although I think this song is Mexican. She read a lot of meaning into this song that I don't see in the lyrics. Such as, the woman is ill and dying and that's why she told him she didn't love him any more -- to make the break easier for him. Not sure where she gathered this information, except that Latin people are very dramatic and read between the lines. Thanks for that translation. My Spanish is not that great, so I have a bit of difficulty with translating some of the vocabulary. I don't know why, but I thought the name of this song was Ella. I had a hell of a time finding it. Finally, I googled some of the lyrics I DID know and, voila.

    Bye.

    Hi Harmony!!

Yes, you're right, the correct name of this song is "Ella" and it was written by mexican composer José Alfredo Jiménez:

Thanks so much for the youtube. It's great. As it turns out, I already sang it tonight. Now I'll have to work on improving it. Thanks again.

I'm very happy you liked it I'm a big fan of José Alfredo Jiménez; he may not have had as great a voice as Vicente Fernández, Pedro Infante or Jorge Negrete, but he composed some of the most beautiful songs I've heard, and many of them are like "anthems" to us mexicans (eg "El rey", "Si nos dejan", "Caminos de Guanajuato", "El último trago", etc.)

Default Fine tunning the translation a little...

If I may, I'd like to make some little clarifications, other than that very good job.

Ya no QUISO escucharme...>>>>> She didn't want to listen TO ME ANYMORE
si sus labios se abrieron>>>>> IF her lips opened IT WAS
    fué pa' decirme...>>>>>only to say
ya no te quiero.>>>>> I no longer love you
    .
de un bohemio...>>>>>from a ROMANTIC DRUNK MAN IN MISERY
    .
The term "bohemio" in spanish has nothing to do with "bohemian" in english. Bohemio is a romantic, heart-broken man in misery who's usually drinking slowly all night long, singing sad songs, while he embraces his misery.
    .
de mi mano, sin fuerza,>>>>>from my WEAKENED hand
    cayó mi copa>>>>>fell my glass
sin darme cuenta...>>>>> WITHOUT ME NOTICING IT. / [end of this sentence]
Ella quiso quedarse>>>>> She wanted to stay
    .
    .
What he didn't notice is when the glass fell, not that she wanted to stay, that is part of the next sentence.

Yes, I'm Mexican, I've cried to this song many many times...
    Cheers!!!

    Where is my Bohemio...
May be you wouldn't want someone to be bohemio because of you. My guess for the top reasons to be bohemio are, in no particular order:

    * Impossible love (different social/economical level, families at conflict, etc...)
    * She is playing TOO hard to get (because of traditional (arcane?) rules of decency and morality)
    * She left him or she loves someone else
    * She makes him believe she loves him but actually not (deceive)
    * She had an affair (treason or betrayal?)
    * She died

Also, is there such a thing as a Bohemia?
As an adjective yes, such as: "una canción bohemia" or "noches bohemias".
I'd say it's OK to refer to a woman, but is kind of hard to imagine. You see, the word "bohemio" is kind of an old word, it brings me back to a very traditional Mexico, cantinas, mariachi serenades, as in Pedro Infante movies. But that also would be the Mexico of the macho, where the woman was very passive about romance. She could kind of hint the man she was interested in, but couldn't go boldly after him or she could be think of an easy woman...
If you see some Pedro Infante movies you will understand the idea a lot better.

Bohemio is all about the deep feelings, without them his just another drunk guy.
A song in English that I can feel a bohemio mood is "Piano Man"

I'm glad I could help, Cheers!
