Solved: Help! Does this song exist?

I come to you with this dilemma:

My grandfather called me and told me a song has been driving him crazy and he wants to know what it is. He knows a couple lines but nothing else. Usually I have NO problem finding songs based on knowing just a couple lyrics, but I am stumped. Google has been no help and I've searched for it in every way imaginable. The lyrics he swears are a song are something along the lines of:

Nice to know you care
And to know you're not pretending
Nice to know you're there
When the lonely day is ending

Simply no way my grandpa made up lyrics like that, but I can't find it anywhere. My dad says he thinks it's from a Broadway show, my grandma thinks my grandpa's crazy and he's making it up. Anyone know? Can anyone help?
