What can a poor girl do
Crying in a rich man’s world
When her love has gone and she needs his arms
To hold her, comfort her, and she needs his voice
To bring her songs alive

What good can a child do
When his dreams are laughed away
Even though they know he could change the world
They refuse to look inside or see beyond
A face they’re scared to trust.

The balance of the world is changing
Because the ones with the power won’t open their eyes.
They refuse to see that the key to everything
Is the one that needs their help, who’s begging to be heard,
Who’s holding out their hand to you because they know that’s all you need.

How much more can I do
When you hold me in my place
I’m always running but you keep chasing
Round in circles so I’m chained and can’t move on,
But I could go so far
